Allan Tannenbaum is a photographer in the United States. He has worked for the '' SoHo Weekly News'' until it shut down in 1982, worked for Sygma Photo News until 2000, and then Polaris Images. He won a World Press Photo General News Award. He photographed many Rock icons in the 1970s and the '' New Yorker'' referred to him as a Rock n' Roll photographer in 2007. In 1978, he photographed Sid Vicious in handcuffs leaving the hotel room where his girlfriend was dead. He photographed The Ramones. He took the cover photograph for Nelson Mandela's book '' Long Walk to Freedom''. The band Devo used a photo he took for the SoHo Weekly News for their album cover on '' Duty Now for the Future''. Double Exposure (band)
Double Exposure is an American, Philadelphia-based disco group. They are best known for their 1976 hit, " Ten Percent". History The group formed in 1961 with Leonard "Butch" Davis, Charles Whittington, Jimmy Williams and Joe Harris. They were originally known as the United Image and released two singles, "Love's Creeping Up on Me" on Stax Records in 1971 and "The African Bump" on Branding Iron Records in 1972. They were signed to Salsoul Records in 1975 and released their debut album, '' Ten Percent'' in 1976. The album featured the title track, which was remixed by Walter Gibbons and reached No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the dance/disco charts. The tracks "Everyman (Has to Carry His Own Weight) and "My Love Is Free" were also popular club songs. In 2001, a dance group called M&S used samples from Double Exposure's "Everyman" in their song called "Salsoul Nugget". Yoko Ono
Yoko Ono ( ; ja, 小野 洋子, Ono Yōko, usually spelled in katakana ; born February 18, 1933) is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist. Her work also encompasses performance art and filmmaking. Ono grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York City in 1953 with her family. She became involved with New York City's downtown artists scene in the early 1960s, which included the Fluxus group, and became well known in 1969 when she married English musician John Lennon of the Beatles. The couple used their honeymoon as a stage for public protests against the Vietnam War. She and Lennon remained married until he was murdered in front of the couple's apartment building, the Dakota, on 8 December 1980. Together they had one son, Sean, who later also became a musician. Stephen Lloyd Varble (1946 – January 6, 1984) was a notorious American performance artist, playwright, and fashion designer in lower Manhattan during the 1970s. His work challenged both mainstream conceptions of gender and exposed the materialism of the established, institutionalized art world. Life Stephen Varble was born in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1946. Varble was raised in a deeply religious household because both of his parents were Methodists. Produced by Ken Scott, the album was recorded between September 1978 and early 1979 at Chateau Recorders in Hollywood. The ''SoHo Weekly News'' (also called the ''SoHo News'') was a weekly alternative newspaper published in New York City from 1973 to 1982. The paper was founded in 1973 by Michael Goldstein (1938–2018). History The first issue was published on October 11, 1973. Initially published in eight pages, it eventually grew to over 100 pages and competed with ''The Village Voice''. The paper's offices were at 111 Spring Street (Manhattan), Spring Street, Manhattan, although the earliest issues showed the address of Goldstein's apartment on the masthead. Circulation was reported as 25,000 – 30,000. The paper was sold to DMG Media, Associated Newspaper Group (ANG) in 1979.
