Allan Larsen
Allan Franklin Larsen (April 4, 1919 – March 2, 2005) was an American Republican politician from Eastern Idaho who served as a member of both chambers of the Idaho Legislature. He was the Republican nominee in the 1978 Idaho gubernatorial election. Early life and education Born in Preston, Idaho, he attended Utah Agricultural College (now Utah State University) in Logan, Utah, Logan. Career Larsen operated a potato farm near Firth, Idaho, Firth in Bingham County, Idaho, Bingham County. First elected to the Idaho Legislature, state legislature in 1966, he served six terms in the Idaho House of Representatives, the last two as Speaker (politics), speaker. Preston, Idaho
Preston is a city in Franklin County, Idaho, United States. The population was 5,204 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Franklin County. It is part of the Logan, Utah-Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The Bear River Massacre occurred in 1863 at a point a few miles northwest of Preston. The Bear River Massacre Site is a National Historic Landmark. In 1866, Latter-day Saint (LDS, or Mormon) pioneers arrived in the northern end of the Cache Valley, stretching across southeastern Idaho and northeastern Utah. They founded a community in that location and named it Worm Creek, but in 1881 changed it to Preston because leaders of the LDS Church in Salt Lake City objected to the name "Worm Creek" being part of any church congregation's name.Baltzar W. Phil Batt
Philip Eugene Batt (born March 4, 1927) is an American politician who served as the 29th governor of Idaho from 1995 to 1999. Batt had previously served as the 35th lieutenant governor of Idaho, Chair of the Idaho Republican Party, and as a member of the Idaho Legislature. He is a member of the Republican Party. Early life and education Born in Wilder, Idaho, Batt was the fifth and youngest child of John and Elizabeth Karn Batt. Batt served sixteen months in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II at Lowry Field, Colorado, working as a clerk discharging veterans. He then returned to the University of Idaho and studied chemical engineering, lived in the dorms, and led a dance band, playing clarinet and tenor saxophone.
