Allan 'Butch' Edwards (born 12 November 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond, Collingwood and Footscray in the VFL The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). Edwards, a strong marking centre half forward, was a regular fixture in the Richmond side for three years after debuting for Richmond midway into the 1975 season. Allan Robert Edwards (24 December 1921 – 30 May 2019) was an Australian cricketer. He played 45 first-class matches for Western Australia between 1946 and 1957. At Christian Brothers' College, Perth, Edwards was a champion schoolboy cricketer, scoring five centuries in consecutive innings in 1940.''The Oxford Companion to Australian Cricket'', Oxford, Melbourne, 1996, p. 156. He served in Borneo during World War II with the British Borneo Civil Affairs Unit, receiving his discharge in 1946. Allan Edwards (New Zealand Cricketer)
Allan James Edwards (12 April 1920 – 18 August 1942) was a New Zealand sportsman. He played one first-class cricket match for Otago in 1940/41. He was killed in action during World War II. Early life Edwards was born at Dunedin in 1920, the son of Lewis and Isabella Edwards (''née'' Ritchie), of Andersons Bay, a suburb of the city. Roy Edwards
Allan Roy Edwards (March 12, 1937 – August 16, 1999) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played 236 games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins between 1967 and 1973. Internationally he played for the Canadian national team at the 1958 World Championships, winning the gold medal. Playing career In 1958, at age 21, Edwards backstopped the Whitby Dunlops, Canada's representative, to the World Championships at Oslo, Norway. He posted a perfect 7–0 record in the eight-team round-robin tournament. In those seven games, Edwards played every minute. He recorded three shutouts and allowed six total goals to have an 0.86 goals-against average. In 1960 he became property of the Chicago Black Hawks. His name was engraved on the Stanley Cup in 1961 even though he never played a single game for Chicago. Edwards' road to the NHL was a long, winding one.
