Allan Bottrill
Allan Bottrill (1905 – 29 November 1929) was an English professional footballer who played as an outside forward. He played one match in the Football League Third Division North for Nelson in the 1925–26 season. Biography Allan Bottrill was born in early 1905 in the town of Eston, North Yorkshire. He was the fourth of seven children born to Walter and Edith Bottrill, and his elder brother Billy was also a professional footballer. After leaving the professional game, Allan Bottrill worked as a plater's assistant in a shipyard. He died from acute pneumonia in his home in Eston on 29 November 1929, at the age of 24. Career Bossons started his playing career with Middlesbrough, for whom he signed as an amateur in August 1921 before turning professional two months later. During his four years with the club, he represented the reserve team on several occasions, but never made a first team appearance. Eston
Eston is a Village in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The ward covering the area (as well as Lackenby, Lazenby and Wilton) had a population of 7,005 at the 2011 census. It is part of Greater Eston, which includes the outlying settlements of Grangetown, Normanby, South Bank, Teesville and part of Ormesby. Excluding Ormesby, the wider area came under the former Eston Urban District from 1894 until 1968. This was a single civil parish with a district council which had the ability to gain a charter to be a town and become a municipal borough in this case it did not. Non-league Football
Non-League football describes association football, football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional. The term is primarily used for football in England, where it is specifically used to describe all football played at levels below those of the Premier League (20 clubs) and the three divisions of the English Football League (EFL; 72 clubs). Currently, a non-League team would be any club playing in the National League (English football), National League or below that level. Typically, non-League clubs are either semi-professional or amateur in status, although the majority of clubs in the National League are fully professional, some of which are former EFL clubs who have suffered relegation. Midland Football League (1889)
The Midland Football League was a semi-professional football league in England. It acted as a feeder league to the Football League for many years before merging with the Yorkshire League in 1982 to form the Northern Counties East League. History Founded in 1889, only one year after the Football League, the Midland League was the second league for professional clubs to be formed. Middlesbrough ( ) is a town on the southern bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire, England. It is near the North York Moors national park. It is the namesake and main town of its local borough council area. Until the early 1800s, the area was rural farming land.
