Allamoore Independent School District
The Allamoore Independent School District was a public school district based in the community of Allamoore, Texas, United States. The approximately district was known as the Allamoore Consolidated Independent District prior to 1992. History The one-room schoolhouse was built circa 1910. In previous eras, the school had two teachers. In later eras, there was only one teacher who also did all administrative functions. Enrollment was determined by the fluctuating number of employees on ranches in the area. History A building with segregated schools for black students and white students - with 29 and 88 students, respectively, was active in the town in 1901. The school for black students was on a part time basis. In 1964 the student enrollment was 18. Circa 1976 the student body was typically around 7-13. By 1976 it was the only common school district remaining in Val Verde County. At the time some students took school buses and some students used other means of transportation if they came from isolated areas. In 1980 there were a total of four students. The sole teacher used the World Book Encyclopedia in her instruction. It operated until 1992, when it had an enrollment of eight, with two of the pupils being the children of the teacher. Divide Independent School District is a public school district based in the community of Mountain Home in western Kerr County, Texas, United States. In terms of students served, Divide ISD is the smallest district in Texas; the 2015 "graduation/promotion ceremony" featured a mere 11 students and the district had as few as eight students at the beginning of the 2014–2015 school year. Divide ISD serves much of western Kerr County. Divide ISD is one of the few remaining schools called "one room schoolhouses" in the United States.
