Atlanta Silverbacks
The Atlanta Silverbacks FC were an American professional soccer club based in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1998 as Atlanta Ruckus, the club played in many leagues over the years before folding after the 2015 season. The team played its home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, a large soccer complex featuring a 5,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in Atlanta, 15 miles northeast of downtown. The team's colors were red, black, grey, and white. The club had 2 independent supporter groups, Westside 109 and the Atlanta Ultras. The Ultras were established in 2011 & were known to support both the Silverbacks men's and women's side. The Ultras were also to be known for their fanatical support at Silverbacks Park, as well as away matches. They had a reputation for their unfriendly or challenging attitude towards fans from opposing clubs. Joe Barton (soccer)
Joe Barton (born July 1, 1981 in San Marcos, California) is an American soccer player, currently without a club. Career College Barton played college soccer at Point Loma Nazarene University and California State University, Northridge, where he was named Big West Goalkeeper of the Year in 2002. and captured two First Team All Conference awards. Barton finished his career with the Matadors with a trip to the NCAA Men’s National Tournament with a record of 14-5-2. Professional Barton was drafted in sixth round of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft by Los Angeles Galaxy, but never played a senior game for the team and was released to the Atlanta Silverbacks of the USL First Division at the end of the season. Barton recorded five wins in 11 games for the Silverback before being released by the Silverbacks on March 30, 2006. Scott Buete (born July 23, 1980 in Bowie, Maryland) is a retired American soccer player and soccer coach who last played for the Baltimore Blast. He is currently the assistant coach of the Maryland Terrapins men's soccer program. Career College Buete played five years for the University of Maryland from 1999 to 2003, starting in 89 games. He finished his career scoring 11 goals, and assisting on 24 more. Buete was named a first team NSCAA All-American his senior year. Gary Brooks (born 8 May 1983 in Kingston) is a Jamaican soccer player. Career Professional Brooks began his professional career in 2002 with the USL First Division with the Virginia Beach Mariners, and went on to play for the Atlanta Silverbacks and the Vancouver Whitecaps before to signing for Crystal Palace Baltimore prior to their inaugural 2007 season. Matthew "Matt" Bobo (born January 6, 1977 in Des Moines, Iowa) is an American soccer player who last played for Carolina RailHawks in the North American Soccer League.
