Alicia Roth Weigel
Alicia Roth Weigel is an American writer, political activist, and intersex advocate. She served as a Human Rights Commissioner for Austin, Texas and is the founder of the firIntrepida Strategy Weigel, who is intersex, was profiled alongside River Gallo and Sean Saifa Wall in the 2023 documentary film ''Every Body''. She released her memoir, Inverse Cowgirl', in 2023. Early life and education Weigel was named after Hurricane Alicia, which hit Texas in 1983, but born in Philadelphia, PA in 1990. When her mother was pregnant with her, she was in a small car accident. Her mother was taken to the hospital where an amniocentesis was performed to ensure the pregnancy had not been terminated. The test revealed that Weigel had XY chromosomes, and so her parents expected to have a baby boy. They had planned to name her Charles, after her father and grandfather, until Weigel's mother gave birth, revealing that Weigel was born with female genitalia. The Human Rights Commission of Austin (Texas) was established on October 5, 1967, by the City of Austin Ordinance 671005-B. Wendy Russell Davis (born Wendy Jean Russell; May 16, 1963) is an American lawyer and politician from Fort Worth, Texas. A member of the Democratic Party, Davis represented the 10th district in the Texas Senate from 2009 to 2015. She previously served on the Fort Worth City Council. On June 25, 2013, Davis held a thirteen-hour-long filibuster to block Senate Bill 5, a measure which included more restrictive abortion regulations for Texas. The filibuster played a major role in Senate Democrats' success in delaying passage of the bill beyond the midnight deadline for the end of the legislative session, though it ultimately passed in a second session.
