Alice Hanson
Alice Ann Hanson (née Brown; May 6, 1927 – February 7, 2009) was a politician from Alberta, Canada. She served in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1993 to 1997 as a member of the Liberal caucus in opposition. Political career Hanson ran for a seat in the Alberta Legislature as a Liberal candidate in the electoral district of Edmonton-Highlands-Beverly in the 1993 general election. Edmonton-Highlands-Beverly
Edmonton-Highlands-Beverly was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting from 1993 to 1997. Edmonton-Highlands-Beverly was contested only once, in 1993. It was created from most of Edmonton-Highlands and part of Edmonton-Beverly, and its name was changed back to Edmonton-Highlands in 1997, with no boundary changes. 1993 Alberta General Election
The 1993 Alberta general election was held on June 15, 1993, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The Conservative government was re-elected, taking 51 seats out of 83 (61 percent of the seats) but only having support of 45 percent of voters. It is notable because it was seen by some as a contest between the former mayors of Calgary and Edmonton, Ralph Klein and Laurence Decore, respectively. John McInnis (Alberta Politician)
John Robert Lawrence McInnis (October 19, 1950 – November 26, 2003) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1989 to 1993. Political career McInnis ran for a seat in the Alberta Legislature for the electoral district of Edmonton-Jasper Place in the 1989 Alberta general election. He defeated Incumbent Progressive Conservative MLA Leslie Young and Liberal candidate Karen Leibovici to pick the seat for the Alberta New Democrats. The race was a virtual three way tie with a margin 463 votes separating first and third place. Ronald Liepert (born October 8, 1949) is a Canadian politician who serves as the Member of Parliament for Calgary Signal Hill in the House of Commons of Canada. He previously served in the Cabinet of Alberta as Minister of Finance, Energy, Health and Wellness and Education under Premiers Ed Stelmach and Alison Redford. From 2004 to 2012, he was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Calgary-West, as a Progressive Conservative legislator.
