Ali Jasim Elaibi Al-Tameemi (; born 20 January 2004) is an Iraqi professional footballer who plays as a forward for Dutch side Almere City FC on loan from the Italian Serie A club Como, and the Iraq national team. Club career Al-Karkh At 14 years old, Ali Jasim made his Iraqi Premier League debut for Al-Karkh against Al-Zawraa on 3 November 2018. He scored his first goal for the club in the last round of the 2018–19 Iraqi Premier League against Amanat Baghdad on 24 July 2019. Al-Shorta Ali Jasim joined the defending Iraqi Premier League champions Al-Shorta during the 2019–20 season under coach Abdul-Ghani Shahad, although the season was later abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup
The 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup was the 6th edition of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup (previously the AFC U-23 Championship before rebranding from 2021), the biennial international age-restricted football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. The tournament was held in Qatar from 15 April to 3 May 2024. The tournament acted as the AFC qualifiers for the 2024 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in France. The top three teams of the tournament qualified for the Olympics as the AFC representatives, while the fourth-best team entered a single-elimination AFC–CAF play-off match. Aleksandar Ilić ( sr-cyr, Александар Илић; born 26 June 1969) is a Serbian professional football coach and former player. Playing career In 1999, Ilić was loaned out to Cádiz. 2020–21 Iraq FA Cup
The 2020–21 Iraq FA Cup was the 31st edition of the Iraqi knockout football cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football, featuring 126 teams (20 from the Iraqi Premier League and 106 from the Iraqi First Division League and Iraqi Second Division League). It started on 20 October 2020 and the final was played on 19 July 2021 at Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad. COVID-19 Pandemic In Iraq
The COVID-19 pandemic in Iraq was a part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). During the pandemic, Iraq reported its first confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 infections on 22 February 2020 in Najaf. By April, the number of confirmed cases had exceeded 100 in the governorates of Baghdad, Basra, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Najaf. As of 7 April 2020, officially 28,414 tests have been done in Iraq as a whole (including the Kurdistan Region), with 1202 of them turning out positive. Of those tests, 12,143 were done by the Kurdish Ministry of Health, which means that the other 16,271 were done by the Iraqi Ministry of Health. While 0.25% of the Kurdistan Region's population has been tested, only 0.05% of the rest of the country has been tested, highlighting the possible disparity between total positive case numbers between regions. Abdul-Ghani Shahad
Abdul-Ghani Shahad (; born 7 March 1968) is an Iraqi professional football coach and former player who is currently manager of Naft Al-Wasat SC in the Iraqi Premier League. Abdul-Ghani started his playing career at Al-Najaf FC and remained a one-club man throughout his career. Upon his retirement in 1999, he went into coaching and managed his hometown club Al-Najaf for 7 years, achieving a second-place finish. 2019–20 Al-Shorta SC Season
The 2019–20 season was Al-Shorta's 46th season in the Iraqi Premier League, having featured in all 45 previous editions of the competition. Al-Shorta participated in five competitions: the Iraqi Premier League (as defending champions), the Iraq FA Cup, the Iraqi Super Cup, the AFC Champions League and the Arab Club Champions Cup. Al-Shorta won the Iraqi Super Cup for the first time in their history, beating Al-Zawraa on penalties after a 1–1 draw. Amanat Baghdad Sports Club () is an Iraqi professional football team based in Karkh District, Baghdad, that competes in the Iraqi Premier Division League, the second tier of Iraqi football. 2018–19 Iraqi Premier League
The 2018–19 Iraqi Premier League () was the 45th season of the Iraqi Premier League, the highest division for Iraqi association football clubs, since its establishment in 1974. The season started on 14 September 2018 and ended on 24 July 2019. A two-horse title race ensued for most of the season and Al-Shorta ended up as champions by finishing five points ahead of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya at the top of the table. Al-Zawra'a Sports Club () is an Iraqi professional sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team competes in the Iraq Stars League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Iraqi Premier League
The Iraq Stars League (), is the highest level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraqi Premier Division League. It is governed by the Iraqi Pro League Association. The league was formed by the Iraq Football Association in 1974 as the Iraqi National Clubs League, the first nationwide league of clubs in Iraq, and later became known as the Iraqi Premier League. In 2023, the competition was rebranded as the Iraq Stars League and transitioned into a fully professional competition.
