Emblem Of Algeria
The national emblem of Algeria (; Tamazight: ) is the official seal used by the government of Algeria. Description The current form of the emblem with Arabic writing was adopted on 1 November 1976, but was only differentiated from previous one by the changing of the motto from French to Arabic. Contained on the emblem is the crescent that is also found on the flag of Algeria and is a symbol of Islam. The text that encircles the emblem says in Arabic: ("The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria", the country's official name). An ethnicity or ethnic group is a group of people with shared attributes, which they collectively believe to have, and long-term endogamy. People's National Assembly
The People's National Assembly (; abbreviated APN) is the lower house of the Algerian Parliament. It is composed of 407 members directly elected by the population. Of the 407 seats, 8 are reserved for Algerians living abroad. Members of the People's National Assembly are directly elected through proportional representation in multiple-member districts and serve terms lasting five years at a time. The last election for this body was held on 12 June 2021. The minimum age for election to the Assembly is 28. There are 58 districts, corresponding to the wilayas (provinces), and an overseas constituency, which send representatives to this body. The Council of the Nation () is the upper house of the Algerian Parliament. It is composed of 144 members, 2/3 of which are elected indirectly and 1/3 of which are appointed by the president of Algeria. Abdelkader Bensalah was elected as President of the Council of the Nation on July 2, 2002, re-elected on January 11, 2007 and January 10, 2008. Zohra Drif was elected as Vice President of the Council of the Nation on September 10, 2002, re-elected on March 7, 2007 and March 8, 2008. Nadir Larbaoui (; born 26 September 1949) is an Algerian politician, lawyer and diplomat, serving as the Prime Minister of Algeria since November 2023. Early life In his youth, Larbaoui was an athlete on Algeria men's national handball team. He participated in the Algerian Men's Handball Cup and won the 1971–1972, 1972–1973 and 1975–1976 Algerian Cups. He was selected during the World Handball Championship in 1974 then during the African Handball Championship in 1976. Abdelmadjid Tebboune (; born 17 November 1945) is an Algerian politician currently serving as the president of Algeria since December 2019 and as minister of defence. Tebboune took over the power from former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika and former acting head of state Abdelkader Bensalah. Previously, he was Prime Minister of Algeria from May 2017 to August 2017.
