Algernon Greville (MP)
Algernon Greville (c. 1677 – 28 April 1720) was the second son of Fulke Greville, 5th Baron Brooke, son of Robert Greville, 2nd Baron Brooke, and his wife Sarah Dashwood. He married Mary, daughter and coheir of Lord Arthur Somerset, the youngest son of Henry Somerset, 1st Duke of Beaufort. Their daughter, Mary (20 December 1713 – 1 March 1786), who married Shuckburgh Boughton (d. 1763) in 1736, had Sir Charles William Rouse Boughton, 1st and 9th Bt. Francis Greville (MP For Warwick)
Francis Greville (1 July 1667 – 11 October 1710), of the Castle, Warwick, was and English Tory politician who sat in the English and British House of Commons between 1695 and 1710. Greville was the eldest son of Fulke Greville, 5th Baron Brooke and his wife Sarah Dashwood. He travelled abroad in France, Italy and the Low Countries between 1685 and 1687. On about 26 January 1693, he married Lady Anne Wilmott, daughter and eventual coheiress of John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester (who was the widow of Henry Baynton). Greville was returned as Member of Parliament for Warwick at the 1695 English general election. He was appointed Commissioner for rebuilding Warwick in 1695. He did not stand at the 1698 English general election, but was returned unopposed at the two general elections of 1701. Robert Greville, 2nd Baron Brooke (May 1607 – 4 March 1643) was a radical Puritan activist and leading member of the opposition to Charles I of England prior to the outbreak of the First English Civil War in August 1642. Appointed Parliamentarian commander in Staffordshire and Warwickshire, he was killed by a Royalist sniper at Lichfield on 2 March 1643. The son of a minor member of the Lincolnshire gentry, Greville was adopted at the age of four by his childless distant cousin Fulke Greville, 1st Baron Brooke, and inherited his title and Warwick Castle in 1628. A devout Calvinist, he was closely associated with Puritan activists and opponents of the 1629 to 1640 period of Personal Rule, including John Pym, John Hampden and Arthur Haselrig. From 1640 to 1642, he and Lord Saye were central to securing support in the House of Lords for legislation passed by the Commons.
