Alfred Yekatom
Alfred Yekatom alias Rambo is a former leader of Central African rebel group Anti-balaka, arrested in 2018 for his war crimes. Life Yekatom was born in 1975 in Bimbo. He is former corporal chief of Central African Armed Forces and member of parliament. Between 5 December 2013 and August 2014 he led around 3,000 Anti-balaka fighters during Central African Republic Civil War. He is allegedly responsible for multiple war crimes including murder, forced displacement, imprisonment, use of child soldiers and more. On 11 November 2018, an arrest warrant was issued against him by the International Criminal Court. He was surrendered to the ICC on 17 November 2018. His trial started on 16 February 2021. The ICC hearings on Yekatom and Patrice Edouard Ngaïssona resumed on 30 August 2021 after being adjourned in June 2021. Bimbo, Central African Republic
Bimbo (also, Bimo) is the capital of Ombella-M'poko, one of the 14 prefectures of the Central African Republic, and is located by road southwest of the centre of the capital, Bangui. The country's second-largest city, Bimbo had a population of 124,176 as of the 2003 census and a calculated 2013 population of 267,859. Bimbo is the site of the country's only sex-segregated women's prison, Bimbo Central Prison. The prison was built in 1980 to hold 200 prisoners, although it only held 44, most of whom were pretrial detainees. Climate Köppen-Geiger climate classification system classifies its climate as tropical wet and dry (Aw). The highest record temperature was on February 25, 2004, while the lowest record temperature was on January 22, 1993. Anti-balaka
The Anti-balaka is an alliance of militia groups based in the Central African Republic in the early 21st century said to be composed primarily of Christians. However, some church leaders have contested the claimed exclusively Christian character of such groups. The Tony Blair Faith Foundation and journalist Andrew Katz have noted that animists also participate in Anti-balaka groups. Central African Armed Forces
The Central African Armed Forces (french: Forces armées centrafricaines; FACA) are the armed forces of the Central African Republic and have been barely functional since the outbreak of the civil war in 2012. Today they are among the world's weakest armed forces, dependent on international support to provide security in the country. In recent years the government has struggled to form a unified national army. It consists of the Ground Force (which includes the air service), the gendarmerie, and the National Police. Its disloyalty to the president came to the fore during the mutinies in 1996–1997, and since then has faced internal problems. Bossangoa
Bossangoa is the capital of Ouham, one of the 14 prefectures of the Central African Republic. The town has a population of 36,478 (2003 census). It is located 303 km (189 mi) north of the country's capital, Bangui. The Ouham River passes through Bossangoa and on through a number of waterfalls east of the city before turning north to join the Chari River in Chad. The Mandjia, the third most populous ethnic group in the Central African Republic, are concentrated in Bossangoa. Along with the Baya, a closely related group, the Mandjia are important historically for their resistance to invasion by various Muslim powers to the north.
