Alfred Pearson (bishop)
Alfred Pearson (30 April 184819 March 1909) was the second Bishop of Burnley (a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Manchester) from 1905 until his death. Born at Clifton Lodge, Brixton Hills, Streatham in Brixton, Surrey, second son of Robert (a shipowner and Wharfinger at Stanton's wharf, Tooley Street, Southwark.) and his second wife, Hannah née Brodrick, and educated at Islington Grammar School and Lincoln College, Oxford, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts on 6 July 1872, in 1872 he was appointed Curate of St Andrew's, Leedshe was ordained on Sunday 21 September 1873 by the Bishop of Ripon (Robert Bickersteth D.D. 1857–1884) at Ripon Cathedral. Alfred Pearson (politician)
Alfred Pearson (c. 1850 - April 19, 1921) was an entrepreneur and politician who served as the 11th Mayor of Winnipeg. Pearson was born in Bannington, Warwickshire, England and emigrated to Canada as a young adult. He settled in Winnipeg and started a general store with a business partner. In 1890, he was elected to mayor and served until 1891. In 1892, he moved to Chicago and became a stockbroker. General Sir Alfred Astley Pearson (5 June 1850 – 26 November 1937) was a British Indian Army officer. Military career Pearson was commissioned a second lieutenant on 8 February 1870, promoted to lieutenant on 28 October 1871, to captain on 8 February 1882, and to major on 1 July 1887.Hart′s Army list, 1903 He commanded the 24th (Baluchistan) Regiment of Bombay Infantry (later 124th Duchess of Connaught's Own Baluchistan Infantry) and 1st Battalion 10th Baluch Regiment (later 6th Battalion The Baloch Regiment) from 1894 to 1902. Alfred Chilton Pearson
Alfred Chilton Pearson Fellow of the British Academy, FBA (8 October 18612 January 1935) was an English classical scholar, noted for his work on Greek tragedy. Born and schooled in London, Pearson graduated with distinction from Christ's College, Cambridge, before pursuing a career in law, business and teaching. In 1919, having published several books on ancient Greek philosophy and tragedy, he was elected as the Gladstone Professor of Greek at the University of Liverpool, and he subsequently became Regius Professor of Greek (Cambridge), Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Cambridge in 1921. Porson was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1924, the year in which he released his Oxford Classical Texts, Oxford Classical Text of the works of the fifth-century tragedian Sophocles, but was forced to resign his academic post in 1928 by increasing ill-health.
