Alf Moffat
Alfred Augustine Moffat (15 March 1870 – 8 December 1956) was an Australian sportsman and sports administrator. He played first-class cricket for Western Australia and Australian rules football for several clubs in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). After retiring from playing, he served as president of the WAFL from 1920 to 1932, and was also president of the Australian Football Council (AFC) from 1924 to 1929. Early life and playing career Moffat was born in Perth in 1870. Australian National Football Council
The Australian National Football Council (ANFC) was the national governing body for Australian rules football in Australia from 1906 until 1995. The council was a body of delegates representing each of the principal leagues which controlled the sport in their respective regions. The council was the owner of the laws of the game and managed interstate administrative and football matters. Its function was superseded by the AFL Commission. The South Australia cricket team, officially named the West End Redbacks, is an Australian men's professional first-class cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia. The Redbacks play their home matches at Adelaide Oval and are the state cricket team for South Australia, representing the state in the Sheffield Shield competition and the limited overs Marsh One-Day Cup. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. West Australian Football Hall Of Fame
The West Australian Football Hall of Fame was created in 2002 to recognise and enshrine those who have made a significant contribution to Australian rules football in Western Australia. People eligible for inclusion are players, coaches, umpires, administrators and media representatives. The inductees are chosen under guidelines which have been established by the West Australian Football Commission and in 2003 a Hall of Fame Selection Committee was made. The first induction into the Hall of Fame took place on 21 March 2004. Those with the most significant contribution to West Australian football are elevated to 'Legend Status' and are listed below in bold. Western Australian Amateur Football League
The Perth Football League is an Australian rules football competition based in Perth, Western Australia. It is the largest Australian rules football competition in Western Australia. History The competition began in 1922 with five teams as the Mercantile Football Association (MFA). The MFA changed its name in 1924 to the Perth Districts Football Association and then, in 1929, to the Western Australian Amateur Football Association. It changed to Western Australian Amateur Football League (WAAFL) in 1971. In 2019, the league rebranded as the Perth Football League. University are the most successful club, with 20 A-grade premierships and 96 overall, as of the conclusion of the 2020 season. Perth Football Club
The Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Demons, is an Australian rules football club based in Lathlain, Western Australia, currently playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Representing the south-east area of the Perth metropolitan region, the club currently trains and plays its home games at Lathlain Park (currently known, for sponsorship reasons, as Mineral Resources Park), having previously played at the WACA Ground between 1899 and 1958 and later in 1987 and 1988. The club was founded in 1899 and began play in the First Rate Junior Association, but was promoted to the WAFL after eight games to replace the Rovers Football Club after they dropped out of the league and folded, with Perth drawing much of its inaugural WAFL squad from Rovers. Perth won its first premiership in 1907, but did not win their second until 1955.
