Aleysk (air Base)
Aleysk was an air base in Altai Krai, Russia located 6 km west of Aleysk. It comprises the remains of a small airfield, razed during the 1990s to make way for a military training range. Station history The Aleysk area was once the home to a division of the Strategic Rocket Forces, the 41st Guards Lvovsko-Berlinskaya orders of Kutuzov and Bogdan Khmelnitskiy Missile Division. There were 30 silos for RS-20/SS-18 'Satan' ICBMs in the area, but from late 2000 through 2002, the silos were destroyed in accordance with US/Soviet arms reduction treaties. The process was managed by US Government contractors under the Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction program and observed/verified by United States Air Force representatives according to START I elimination requirements. The final regiment went off duty on 31 August 2001, and the Division was disbanded on 1 December 2001. 41st Combined Arms Army
The 41st Combined Arms Army (russian: 41-я общевойсковая армия) is a field army of the Russian Ground Forces, currently part of the Central Military District. Originally, it was formed in 1942 as part of the Soviet Red Army, during World War II. It was reformed in 1998, when the Transbaikal Military District and Siberian Military District were amalgamated. 41st Guards Rocket Division
The 41st Guards Rocket Division () was a division of the Soviet and Russian Strategic Rocket Forces, active from 1961 to 2001. The division traced its lineage to the formation of the Red Army's 68th Anti-Aircraft (AA) Artillery Division during World War II in October 1943. The 68th Division was assigned to the 38th Army, directly subordinated to the 1st Ukrainian Front, and assigned to the 4th Tank Army (later the 4th Guards Tank Army) for the duration of its combat service, which began in April 1944. The division provided air defense and artillery support to ground troops, and fought in the Lvov–Sandomierz Offensive, the Vistula–Oder Offensive, the Silesian Offensives, the Berlin Offensive, and the Prague Offensive. The 35th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade (russian: 35-я отдельная гвардейская мотострелковая бригада; Military Unit Number 41659) is a unit of the Russian Ground Forces.
