Alexey Zuev
Alexey Zuev (Russian: Алексей Зуев), born 28 April 1982 in Leningrad (today St. Petersburg), is a Russian pianist. His education as a pianist began at the age of seven at a special conservatory for gifted children in St. Petersburg. In 1999 he won the second prize of the International Prokofiev Competition for piano in St. Petersburg. A first prize wasn't awarded then. Beginning in 2000 Zuev studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Alexei Lubimov and since 2007 with Eliso Virsaladze in Munich. In 2004 he won the Kissinger Klavierolymp and in 2009 the second prize of the Concours Géza Anda in Zürich. In 2012, Zuev appeared together with Alexei Lubimov on a CD released by ECM Records entitled ''Claude Debussy Préludes'', which contained the ''Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune'' in the 1895 transcription for two pianos. He is the son of conductor Michail Jurowski, and grandson of Soviet film music composer Vladimir Michailovich Jurowski. The London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) is a British orchestra based in London. One of five permanent symphony orchestras in London, the LPO was founded by the conductors Thomas Beecham, Sir Thomas Beecham and Malcolm Sargent in 1932 as a rival to the existing London Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony and BBC Symphony Orchestras. Valery Abisalovich Gergiev (, ; ; born 2 May 1953) is a Russian conducting, conductor and opera company director. He is currently general director and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre and of the Bolshoi Theatre and artistic director of the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg. Orchestra Of The 18th Century
The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century () is a Dutch early music orchestra. Frans Brüggen and Lucy van Dael co-founded the orchestra in 1981. Sieuwert Verster became financial manager in 1984. Although he did not have a formal title with the orchestra, Brüggen served as the ''de facto'' principal conductor of the orchestra from its founding until his death in 2014. Verster has served as the orchestra's manager since its founding. As of August 2014, the orchestra consisted of 55 members, from many different countries, who all play on period instruments. The group was formed as a collective, so all orchestra members and the conductor receive equal shares of concert earnings. The orchestra does not audition its members, but receives them through word-of-mouth invitations.
