Alexei Vranich
Alexei Vranich ( ; born July 15, 1968) is an American archaeologist specializing in the pre-Columbian South America. His current position as a professor at the University of Warsaw. He is currently based at the Center for Andean Studies at the University of Warsaw. The project focuses on the origins and composition of the Inca Empire. His previous positions include visiting professor at the University of Warsaw, Poland (2021–22), Lecturer at the Department of Material Sciences at MIT (2021–22), Research Associate, and Assistant Dean at Bowles Hall Residential College (2016–18) at the University of California, Berkeley, Research Associate and Visiting Assistant Professor (2009–2015) at UCLA, and a Lecturer and Research Associate at the University of Pennsylvania from 1999 to 2004. Geomatics
Geomatics is defined in the ISO/TC 211 series of standards as the "discipline concerned with the collection, distribution, storage, analysis, processing, presentation of geographic data or geographic information". Under another definition, it consists of products, services and tools involved in the collection, integration and management of geographic (geospatial) data. Surveying engineering was the widely used name for geomatic(s) engineering in the past. Geomatics was placed by the UNESCO Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems under the branch of technical geography.
