Alexandre Émond
Alexandre Émond (born 25 May 1984 in Laval, Quebec) is a Canadian judoka. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 90 kg event and was eliminated in the first round by the British judoka Winston Gordon. Émond has enjoyed success at the Pan American Judo Championships winning two gold, one silver and two bronze medals between 2008 and 2012. He also won the bronze medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. Laval, Quebec
Laval (; ) is a city in Quebec, Canada. It is in the southwest of the province, north of Montreal. It is the largest suburb of Montreal, the third-largest city in the province after Montreal and Quebec City, and the thirteenth largest city in Canada with a population of 422,993 in 2016. Laval is geographically separated from the mainland to the north by the Rivière des Mille Îles, and from the Island of Montreal to the south by the Rivière des Prairies. Laval occupies all of Île Jésus as well as the Îles Laval. Winston Gordon
Winston Alanzo Gordon (born 9 November 1976) is a former British judoka, who competed at three Olympic Games. Biography Gordon was born in Lambeth, London. He came to prominence when becoming champion of Great Britain, winning the middleweight division at the British Judo Championships in 1996. After representing Great Britain at two European Championships he won a second British title in 2000, at the heavier middleweight class of -90kg. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, he won the gold medal in the under 90kg category. In 2004, he was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2004 Summer Olympics, competing in the men's 90kg he just missed out on winning the bronze medal when he lost to Mark Huizinga in the play off. The following year he won his third British title, this time at half-heavyweight.
