Alexandra Vandernoot
Alexandra Vandernoot (born 19 September 1965) is a Belgian film and television actress. Career Vandernoot was born in Brussels in 1965. She is the daughter of Yugoslavia-born ballerina Dušanka Sifnios and Belgian conductor André Vandernoot. Vandernoot is 5'10" tall. She studied drama at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In 1986, she appeared in the sex comedy ''Exploits of a Young Don Juan''. While having starred in a number of French films, Vandernoot is best known internationally as Tessa Noël, Duncan MacLeod's girlfriend, in the fantasy television series '' Highlander: The Series'' during the 1990s. Her character was introduced in the series premiere, and she appeared through the fourth episode of season 2, "The Darkness," in which her character was killed off. She later returned in the ''Highlander'' second-season finale, "Counterfeit Part Two," as a woman made-up to look like Tessa, and also in the series finale as Tessa Noël. AZF (French initialism for ''AZote Fertilisant'', i.e. nitrogen fertilizer) was the name of a chemical factory in Toulouse, France, which exploded on 21 September 2001. The blast was equivalent to 20-40 tons of TNT, producing an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4, and was heard 80 km (50 miles) away. The incident resulted in 31 deaths and left 2,500 wounded. Damages paid by insurance companies exceeded 1.5 billion euros. Although authorities initially treated the incident as an accident, the then Environment Minister speculated that the explosion may have been "a terrorist attack" in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
