Romania Women's National Handball Team
The Romanian women's national team represents Romania in senior women's international handball and is controlled by the Romanian Handball Federation, the governing body for handball in Romania. It competes in the three major international tournaments; the Olympic Games, the IHF World Championship and the EHF European Championship. Since first entering World Championship, Romania are the only team to have appeared in all 25 tournaments to date. They were crowned winners in the IHF World Championship three times: 1956, 1960 and 1962, and finished as runners-up in 1973 and 2005 and also finished third in 2015. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. The 2020 European Women's Handball Championship was held from 3 to 20 December 2020. The games were played in Herning and Kolding, Denmark. Originally, this tournament would be held with 2 host countries: Norway and Denmark. However, lacking some time for the beginning, Norway renounced the right to seat, respecting the local legislation about the COVID-19 pandemic. Sevastian "Bebe" Iovănescu (2 October 1953 – 29 March 2010) was a Romanian football player. Club career Sevastian Iovănescu, also known as "Bebe" was born on 2 October 1953 in Ghelmegioaia, Romania, starting to play junior level football in 1968 at CFR Caransebeș, moving two years later at Steaua București. He made his Divizia A debut on 16 May 1973 in a 0–0 with Universitatea Cluj. In 1974 he went for one season at FC Constanța, then moved to Argeș Pitești. In the 1977–78 season he scored a personal record of 12 goals in the league as Argeș finished on the second place.
