Alexandra Silocea
Alexandra Silocea (born 1984) is a Romanian-born French pianist and bösendorfer artist. Background Alexandra Silocea was born in Romania. She began piano lessons aged eight with Gabriela Raducanu in Constanta/Romania. At the age of 11 she continued her studies at the "George Enescu" Music School in Bucharest. After auditioning for the late Mihaela Ursuleasa in 2000, Mihaela encouraged Alexandra to apply for the entrance exam at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. 16 years old, Alexandra passed the entrance exam and started studying at the Music University in Vienna. Among her teachers were Oleg Maisenberg and Johannes Marian. In 2008, she started studying at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse Paris with Th. Paraschivesco and Laurent Cabasso. Bösendorfer (L. Bösendorfer Klavierfabrik GmbH) is an Austrian piano manufacturer and, since 2008, a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation. Bösendorfer is unusual in that it produces 97- and 92- key models in addition to instruments with standard 88-key keyboards. History Bösendorfer, one of the oldest piano manufacturers, was established in 1828 by Ignaz Bösendorfer. It has a history of producing highly respected instruments. Joseph Maurice Ravel (7 March 1875 – 28 December 1937) was a French composer, pianist and conductor. He is often associated with Impressionism along with his elder contemporary Claude Debussy, although both composers rejected the term. In the 1920s and 1930s Ravel was internationally regarded as France's greatest living composer. Born to a music-loving family, Ravel attended France's premier music college, the Paris Conservatoire; he was not well regarded by its conservative establishment, whose biased treatment of him caused a scandal. Mihaela Ursuleasa
Mihaela Ursuleasa (27 September 1978 – 2 August 2012) was a Romanian concert pianist. In 1995, she won the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition. Biography Ursuleasa began playing the piano at the age of five under the tutelage of her Romani father, a jazz musician. In 1990, at the age of 12, she obtained a grant to study in Vienna. She went on to perform at Carnegie Hall, with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester in Berlin, with the Orchestre National de France, as well as with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2000, she received an honorable mention at the XIV International Chopin Piano Competition. In 2010, she was awarded the Echo Klassik award for her debut album ''Piano & Forte''. She released her second album, ''Romanian Rhapsody'' in 2011. Death Ursuleasa was found dead in her Vienna home on 2 August 2012 of a cerebral hemorrhage. She was 33.
