Alexandra Bracken
Alexandra Bracken (born February 27, 1987) is an American author known for ''The Darkest Minds'' series and ''Passenger'' series. Early life Alexandra Bracken was born in Phoenix, Arizona, where she later returned after living in New York City for many years. She graduated from Chaparral High School in 2005, and attended the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in History and English in May 2009. She worked in the children's publishing industry in New York City, first as an editorial assistant and then in marketing. Career Bracken wrote her first unpublished novel as a college freshman, and began her debut novel, ''Brightly Woven,'' as a birthday present for her friend during her sophomore year when she was nineteen. In their review of the book, Publishers Weekly dubbed Bracken "a debut author to watch." Her debut placed third in the 2010 GoodReads Choice Awards for Best Debut Author. The Darkest Minds
''The Darkest Minds'' is a 2018 American dystopian science fiction film directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, written by Chad Hodge and produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine. The film stars Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickinson, Mandy Moore and Gwendoline Christie. Based on Alexandra Bracken's 2012 young adult novel of the same name, it follows a group of children who are on the run from the government after obtaining superpowers due to a mysterious infection. On September 15, 2014, it was announced that 20th Century Fox had bought the rights to the novel and that Levy would produce the film through his 21 Laps Entertainment. Stenberg was cast two years later on September 26, 2016 and principal photography began in April 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia. ''The Darkest Minds'' was released in the United States on August 3, 2018.
