Alexander Raevsky (aviator)
Alexander Evgenievich Raevsky (22 May 1887 – 7 October 1937) was a Russian aviator, one of the founders of flight science in Russian Empire, Russia. Life and career He came from an old noble family. He studied at a classical gymnasium in Tallinn, Yuryev (now, Tallinn). He graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Tartu, Imperial University of Dorpat. In November 1908 he was called up for military service. In 1911 he graduated from the flight school of Louis Blériot in France. Since June 1911, he was a pilot leader at the aviation school of the Imperial All-Russian Aero Club. In 1913, he was sent to France for the second time to study at the High School of Aerobatics, from which he graduated in April 1914. Upon returning to Russia, he made many demonstration flights around Russia, including nine «dead loops». One of them, performed at a height of 40 meters, became a world record. Aleksander Rayevsky
Aleksandr Mikhailovich Rayevskiy (, 30 August 1957, Pastavy, Vitsebsk Voblast, Belarus - 30 August 2008) was a test pilot for the Russian military. While flying inside Russia and in Belarus, he has achieved 2300 hours of flight time, piloting various aircraft as the Su-27 and the Mig-29, and has over 200 accident-free landings on top of aircraft carriers. Due to his work as a test pilot and of his record, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. He died in a car accident.
