Alexander Konstantinovich Nikitin (; born 16 May 1952) is a Russian former submarine officer and nuclear safety inspector turned environmentalist. In 1996 he was accused of espionage for revealing the perils of decaying nuclear submarines, and in 2000 he became the first Russian to be completely acquitted of a charge of treason in the Soviet or post-Soviet era. Whistleblower and espionage accusations Nikitin started to co-operate with Norway, Norwegian environmental Bellona Foundation in 1994. He was arrested in February 1996 by Russian FSB (Russia), FSB and charged with treason through espionage for his contributions to a Bellona report on the nuclear safety within the Russian Northern Fleet. Aleksandr Nikitin (chess Player)
Aleksandr Sergeyevich Nikitin (; 27 January 1935 – 5 June 2022) was a Russian chess player, chess coach, theorist; and Master of Sports of the USSR (1952). He was a coach of the Azerbaijan SSR (1980) and the USSR (1986) teams, and was a coach for Garry Kasparov from 1976 to 1990. Life and career Aleksandr Nikitin was born in Moscow. He attended and graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute. Afterwards, Nikitin worked on a production at the MPEI Special Design Bureau. At the age of 17, Nikitin became a chess master. He participated in a number of championships in Moscow (the best result in 1954 - 2nd-5th place), in an international tournament in Kislovodsk (1966 - 9th place) and in the 1959 USSR Chess Championship. Aleksandr Valeryevich Nikitin (; born 26 April 1976), is a Russian statesman who is currently the Senator from Tambov Oblast since 7 October 2021. He was the 5th Head of Administration of Tambov Oblast since 22 September 2015 to 4 October 2021. He is a member of the Supreme Council of the United Russia party.
