Alexander Harper (Ohio Politician)
Alexander Harper (February 5, 1786December 1, 1860) was a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from Ohio for three different non-consecutive tenures in the mid-19th century. Biography Born near Belfast in the Kingdom of Ireland, Harper immigrated to the United States and settled in Zanesville, Ohio. He pursued preparatory studies, studied law, was Admission to the bar in the United States, admitted to the bar in 1813, and commenced practice in Zanesville. He served as member of the Ohio House of Representatives in 1820 and 1821. He served as president judge of the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas, Court of Common Pleas 1822–1836. 28th United States Congress
The 28th United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, consisting of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, D.C. from March 4, 1843, to March 4, 1845, during the third and fourth years of John Tyler's presidency. The apportionment of seats in this House of Representatives was based on the Sixth Census of the United States in 1840. The Senate had a Whig majority, and the House had a Democratic majority. William Wilson (Ohio Politician)
William Wilson (March 19, 1773June 6, 1827) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio. Born in New Boston in the Province of New Hampshire, Wilson attended the public schools and was graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, in 1797. He studied law in Johnstown, New York, and was admitted to the bar. He moved to Ohio and settled in Chillicothe about 1805. He engaged in the practice of law there before moving to Newark, Ohio in 1808, having been appointed chief judge of the court of common pleas, and served until 1823. He was elected a member of the American Antiquarian Society in 1818. Wilson was elected to the 18th, 19th, and 20th Congresses, serving from March 4, 1823, until his death in Newark, Ohio on June 6, 1827. He served as chairman of the Committee on Expenditures in the Post Office Department in the 19th Congress. The 14th congressional district of Ohio is in the far northeast corner of the state, bordering Lake Erie and Pennsylvania. Ohio's 12th Congressional District
Ohio's 12th congressional district is a United States congressional district in central Ohio, covering Delaware County, Morrow County, and Licking County, along with parts of Franklin, Marion, Muskingum, and Richland counties. The district includes communities north and east of Columbus including Zanesville, Mansfield, and Dublin. It is currently represented by Troy Balderson, a member of the Republican Party. Balderson took office following a special election held on August 7, 2018, to replace Rep. Pat Tiberi, who had resigned on January 15, 2018. Balderson was then re-elected in the 2018 general election two months later. From 2003 to 2013 the district included eastern Columbus, including most of its heavily African-American neighborhoods. One of his best known works, it tells the story of Josef K., a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor to the reader. Heavily influenced by Dostoevsky's ''Crime and Punishment'' and ''The Brothers Karamazov'', Kafka even went so far as to call Dostoevsky a blood relative.
