Alexander Cadell (British Army Officer)
Alexander Richard Cadell (19 August 1900 – 14 May 1928) was an English first-class cricketer and Royal Navy officer. The son of the British Indian Army General Alexander Cadell, he was born in British India at Firozpore in August 1900. Cadell was appointed an acting sub-lieutenant in the Royal Navy in July 1917, and served in the final 17 months of the First World War. In February 1919, he gained the full rank of sub-lieutenant, with promotion to lieutenant following in October 1920. Cadell made his debut in first-class cricket for the Royal Navy against the British Army cricket team at Lord's in 1922. He would play first-class cricket for the Royal Navy until 1927, making seven appearances. In addition to his naval cricket, Cadell also played first-class cricket for Hampshire, first appearing for the county against Leicestershire in the 1923 County Championship at Portsmouth. Firozpur
Firozpur, (pronunciation: ɪroːzpʊr also known as Ferozepur, is a city on the banks of the Sutlej River in the Firozpur District of Punjab, India. After the Partition of India in 1947, it became a border town on the India–Pakistan border with memorials to soldiers who died fighting for India. It is located on the banks of the Sutlej River on the India–Pakistan border. The nearby Firozpur Cantonment is a major cantonment of the country. Etymology The name of Ferozepore is said to derive either from Feroz Shah Tughlaq, sultan of Delhi, or from a Bhatti chief, named Feroze Khan, who was a mid-16th century Manj Rajput chief. Oxford University Cricket Club
Oxford University Cricket Club (OUCC), which represents the University of Oxford, had held first-class status since 1827 when it made its debut in the inaugural University Match between OUCC and Cambridge University Cricket Club (CUCC). Following the 2021 University Match, OUCC lost its first-class status. It was classified as a List A team in 1973 only. Home fixtures are played at the University Parks slightly northeast of Oxford city centre. History The earliest reference to cricket at Oxford is in 1673. OUCC made its known debut in the inaugural University Match between Oxford and Cambridge played in 1827. Warwickshire County Cricket Club
Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class cricket, first-class county cricket, county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the Historic counties of England, historic county of Warwickshire. Founded in 1882, the club held minor counties of English and Welsh cricket, minor status until it was elevated to first-class in 1894 pending its entry into the County Championship in 1895.Since then, Warwickshire have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England.
