Alexander Bowman (Australian Politician)
Alexander Bowman (1838 – 10 July 1892) was an Australian politician. He was born in Richmond. The Bowman brothers: George Pearce Bowman (1821–1870), pastoralist, Robert Bowman (1830–1873), medical practitioner, and Alexander Bowman (1838–1892), parliamentarian, were the eldest, fifth and seventh sons of Eliza Sophia Pearce and George Bowman, pioneers of the Hawkesbury region. He was the grandson of John Bowman. He attended Cape's College at Darlinghurst and Carey's School at Windsor before studying at the University of Sydney, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1858. He moved to Queensland in 1859 but later that year returned to New South Wales, living at Singleton where he became a racehorse breeder and pastoralist. On 25 March 1881 he married Johanna Heuston, with whom he had three children. He served as a Singleton alderman and then as mayor for seven years. Alexander Bowman (Irish Politician)
Alexander Bowman (c. March 1854 – 3 November 1924) was an Irish politician and trade unionist. Baptised Patrick McKeown, he was always known as "Alexander" to his family, and acquired the surname "Bowman" to match that of his older half-siblings. Bowman was baptised on 17 March 1854 as a Roman Catholic, but brought up as a Presbyterian.Terence Bowman, ''People's Champion'', pp.1-2 A temperance campaigner in his youth, he joined the Flax Dressers' Trade and Benevolent Trade Union and, in 1881, became the first secretary of the Belfast Trades Council. Alexander Hamilton Bowman (May 15, 1803 – November 11, 1865) was an engineer, military educator, and career officer in the United States Army. Alex Michael Bowman (born April 25, 1993) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports, part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports. He owns a Dirt Midget and Sprint car racing team named Alex Bowman Racing. He is known for a record five consecutive front-row starts in the Daytona 500, from 2018 to 2022, winning the pole in 2018 and 2021. Bowman has developed a reputation among his fellow drivers as a closer; Three of his seven wins have come after Bowman passed the leader with ten or fewer laps to go. He is known by many nicknames, the most predominant being "Bowman the Showman".
