Alex Paxton
Alex Paxton (born 1990) is an English composer and trombonist known for his maximalist compositions that often incorporate elements of jazz, baroque music and New Complexity, new complexity. Education and career Paxton studied jazz trombone performance at the Royal Academy of Music before receiving an MMus in composition from the Royal College of Music. As a trombone soloist he has performed with orchestras such as the London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Philharmonia Orchestra, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. As a composer, his music has been performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, and the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, WDR Symphony. In 2021, his piece ''Sometimes Voices'' won an Ivor Novello Awards, Ivor Novello Award. Royal Scottish National Orchestra
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) () is a Scottish orchestra, based in Glasgow. It is one of the five national performing arts companies of Scotland. Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is a music, dance, and musical theatre conservatoire based in South East London. It was formed in 2005 as a merger of two older institutions – Trinity College of Music and Laban Dance Centre. The Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF) is a classical music festival held each summer throughout the state of Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany. History The festival was founded in 1986 by German concert pianist and conductor Justus Frantz. Within a short space of time, prominent supporters such as Leonard Bernstein were won over to the idea. He played a key role in ensuring that renowned musicians such as Yehudi Menuhin, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Svjatoslav Richter and Mstislav Rostropovich performed at the first edition of the festival in 1986. The international Paul Hindemith Prize promotes outstanding contemporary composers within the framework of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF). The award commemorates the musical pedagogy of Paul Hindemith, who wrote the composition ''Plöner Musiktag'' in 1932 on behalf of the Staatliche Bildungsanstalt Plön. The music prize is endowed with €20,000 and goes together with a composition commission. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra (DNSO; ), is a Danish orchestra based in Copenhagen. The DNSO is the principal orchestra of DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation).
