Alessandro Martinelli (born 30 May 1993) is a Swiss professional footballer, currently playing as midfielder for FC Mendrisio in Seconda Lega, the sixth tier of Swiss football league system. Club career Sampdoria Born in Mendrisio, Ticino, an Italian-speaking canton, Switzerland, Martinelli moved south to Italy to start his professional career. He left the reserve team of U.C. Sampdoria in 2012 for Calcio Portogruaro Summaga. Martinelli returned to Sampdoria in June 2013; he signed a new 5-year contract with the Genoese club. On 2 September 2013, he was signed by Venezia. 2014–15 Serie B
The 2014–15 Serie B was the 83rd season since its establishment in 1929. A total of 22 teams contested the league: 14 of which returning from the 2013–14 season, 5 of which promoted from Prima Divisione, and three relegated from Serie A. The original concept was that due to Siena's exclusion because of financial issues and the fact such vacancy will not be filled in preparation of a future reduction to a league composed by 20 teams, this season featured 21 participant clubs instead of the usual 22. However, on 11 August 2014, Novara won an appeal and the league confirmed a 22nd team. On 29 August, the league chose Vicenza Calcio as the 22nd participant. The series have 42 weeks of play. Coppa Italia Lega Pro
Coppa Italia Serie C ( it, Serie C Italian Cup), formerly named Coppa Italia Lega Pro, is a straight knock-out based competition involving teams from Serie C in Italian football first held in 1972. Format There are a total of six rounds in the competition. It begins in August with the first set, which is contested by 56 out of 60 teams. The other four clubs, which also play in Coppa Italia, join in during the second set. Each game is played as a single leg, except for the semi-finals and the final. If teams are tied (after single leg or on aggregate, no away goal rule applies), the winner is decided by extra-time and a penalty shootout if required. As well as being presented with the trophy, the winning team also qualifies for the following edition of Coppa Italia and for the third round of Serie C promotion play-offs. Lega Pro Prima Divisione
Lega Pro Prima Divisione was the third highest football league in Italy. It consisted of 33 teams, divided geographically into two divisions of 16 and 17 teams for group A and B respectively. Until 2008 it was known as Serie C1. Before the 1978–79 season there were only three leagues of professional football in Italy, the third being Serie C. In 1978, it was decided to split Serie C into Serie C1 and Serie C2. Serie C2, the fourth highest professional league in the Italian system, was also renamed in 2008 and was called Lega Pro Seconda Divisione. The 2012–13 Lega Pro Prima Divisione season was the thirty-fifth football league season of Italian Lega Pro Prima Divisione since its establishment in 1978, and the fifth since the renaming from Serie C to Lega Pro. It was divided into two phases: the regular season, and the playoff phase. The league was also composed of 33 teams divided into two divisions of 17 and 16 teams respectively for group A and B. There was only one repechage from Lega Pro Seconda Divisione by Virtus Entella, because no other teams showed interest to submit the application for the high price of the guarantee and the repayable contribution required. The Northern Ireland national under-19 football team also known as Northern Ireland under-19s or Northern Ireland U19s represents Northern Ireland in association football at under-19 level. It is controlled by the Irish Football Association and began under the name of Ireland Youth when the Home Nations first held a round robin of friendly matches in 1948. 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship (Elite Round) was the second round of qualifications for the final tournament of 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. The 25 teams that advanced from the qualifying round plus three teams who received byes to the elite round were distributed into seven groups of four teams each, with each group played in a round-robin format, with one of the four teams hosting all six group matches. The seven group-winning teams qualified automatically for the final tournament in Estonia.
