Alessandro Filipponi
Alessandro (Sandrino) Filipponi (30 March 1909 — 27 June 1931) was an Italian painter. Filipponi was born in Udine in a poor family. His father Luigi was a painter, his mother's name was Elena Caterina Alessi. In the middle of the 1920s, he became friends with Basaldella brothers and started painting. At that point, he did not have any formal art education and was self-taught. In Summer 1928 he participated in an exhibition in Venice, which also gave him an opportunity to attend classes at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Filipponi eventually returned to Udine and participated there in the exhibition of Friulian Avant-garde School. In 1930 he followed Afro Basaldella and went to Rome, where he met painters of the Scuola Romana and participated at the exhibition at the Rome Quadriennale. In 1931, he returned to Udine. Udine ( ; ; ; ; ) is a city and (municipality) in northeastern Italy, in the middle of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, between the Adriatic Sea and the Carnic Alps. Mirko Basaldella
Mirko Basaldella (28 September 1910 – 24 November 1969) was an Italian sculptor and painter. Early life and education Mirko was born in Udine, Italy on September 28, 1910, the second of three brothers (Dino was the eldest, and Afro the youngest). He grew up in a family of artists: his father Leo (1886 – 1918) was a painter and decorator, and since youth Mirko and his brothers showed a precocious artistic talent. Mirko studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze; in 1928, he first exhibited his work in Udine, alongside the paintings of his two brothers. The (English: Academy of Fine Arts of Venice) is a public tertiary academy of art in Venice, Italy. History The Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia was founded on 24 September 1750; the statute dates from 1756. The first director was Giovanni Battista Piazzetta; Gianbattista Tiepolo became the first president after his return from Würzburg. The academy was at first housed in a room on the upper floor of the , a flour warehouse and market on the Grand Canal, close to Piazza San Marco. The space was insufficient, and students and teachers had to contend with the noise and dust of the market, which also occupied the first floor of the building. Afro Libio Basaldella (March 4, 1912 – July 24, 1976) was one of the most important Italian painter in the post-World War II period. He began as a member of the Scuola Romana, and then embracing [informal] [abstraction], worked and had great international success together with Alberto Burri and Lucio Fontana. He was generally known by the single name, "Afro". Early life and education Born on March 4, 1912, in Udine, Italy. Scuola romana or Scuola di via Cavour was a 20th-century art movement defined by a group of painters within Expressionism and active in Rome between 1928 and 1945, and with a second phase in the mid-1950s. The Rome Quadriennale ( Italian: La Q''uadriennale di Roma'', also called in English the ''Rome Quadrennial'') is the Italian national institution entrusted with the task of researching about and promoting Italian contemporary art.
