Alessandra Mussolini
Alessandra Mussolini (born 30 December 1962) is an Italian politician, television personality, model and former actress and singer. Mussolini has been a member of both houses of the Italian Parliament as well as the European Parliament. She is also known for being a member of the Mussolini family as a granddaughter of Benito Mussolini. Since 2022, she has been a Member of the European Parliament for Forza Italia. Mussolini first gained fame through acting and modelling. In 1982, as a singer, she released a city pop album entitled '' Amore''. Mussolini starred in her final film in 1990 and left the industry after a producer asked her to change her name. In 2004, she became the first woman to lead a political party in Italy when she founded the national conservative political party Social Action. ''Amore'' is the debut and only studio album by Alessandra Mussolini. The album was released by Alfa Records in 1982 in Japan only and was produced by Miki Curtis. On the album, Mussolini sang songs in Italian, English, and Japanese. In 1982, Mussolini and her mother paid a visit to Japan. When asked if her daughter could sing for an advertisement, Mussolini's mother gave a positive answer, even though Mussolini had never sung before. Mussolini recalled that "When I sang in Japan, Cristiano Malgioglio (author of some of her songs on the album) saved me". The album was broadcast in Italy for the first time in a program of Canale 5 in 1996. In 2000, an album was sold in London for £4,500 GBP (₤10,000,000 ITL). In 2021, during an interview with Canale 5, Mussolini performed the song "Tokyo Fantasy" from the album in Japanese. City Pop
is a loosely defined form of Japanese pop music that emerged in the late 1970s and peaked in popularity during the 1980s. It was originally termed as an offshoot of Japan's Western-influenced " new music", but came to include a wide range of styles – including funk, disco, R&B, AOR, soft rock, and boogie – that were associated with the country's nascent economic boom and leisure class.
