Raffaella Aleotti
Vittoria Aleottis (c. 1575 – after 1620), believed by some scholars to be the same as Raffaella Aleotta (c. 1570 – after 1646) was an Italian Augustinian nun, a composer and organist of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. She is recognized as one of the earliest known female composers to have works published, contributing to the development of sacred and secular vocal music. Aleotti was a nun at the Convent of San Vito in Ferrara, where she composed and performed music. Her published works include madrigals and sacred motets, notably appearing in the 1593 collection ''Il giardino de’ musici di Donne''. Some scholars believe she may also have been the composer known as Raffaella Aleotti, who published a collection of sacred motets in 1593. Antonio Aleotti
Antonio Aleotti (died 1527) was an Italian painter, first mentioned in records in 1494 and active in Ferrara. Born in Argenta, he is also known as Antonio dell'Argento. He painted frescoes in the Chiesa della Morte in Ferrara. His altarpiece of the Virgin and child enthroned, with St Anthony the Abbot and the Archangel Michael was painted in 1510 for the Hospital of Saint Antonio in Cesena, and is now in the city's art gallery. He died in Cesena in 1527. Giovan Battista Aleotti
Giovan Battista Aleotti (1546 – 12 December 1636) was an Italian architect, engineer and writer. Biography Born in Argenta, he moved young to Ferrara, where he was formed by contact with technicians of merit such as Marco Antonio Pasi, Cornelio Bentivoglio, Galasso Alghisi and Silvio Belli, in a stimulating cultural environment in which personalities such as Francesco Patrizi, Antonio Montecatini, Cesare Cremonini and Torquato Tasso participated. Beginning as an apprentice for art and the science of engineering, in 1571 Aleotti began to work under Alfonso II d'Este. With Alessandro Balbi he designed the façade of the University in 1610. He gave a new façade to the Rocca Scandiano, the home of the Boiardo family. He is known for his designs in Parma, including the Teatro Farnese (1618–1628) and, with the assistance of his pupil Giovanni Battista Magnani, the hexagonal church of Santa Maria del Quartiere (1604–1619).
