Aleksandra Kosiorek
Aleksandra Monika Kosiorek (born 13 March 1984) is a politician and jurist, and has been mayor of Gdynia since 2024. Biography Aleksandra Kosiorek was born on 13 March 1985 in Gdańsk, Poland. She had graduated in law from the University of Gdańsk, and begun working as a jurist. Since 2013, she in a co-owner of a legal firm and a court mediator specialised in medical law. Since 2020 she is a coordinator of a legal team in the Gdańsk District Medical Chamber. Kosiorek is also a social activist, and a member of the Gdynia Dialogue Federation. In the late 2010s and early 2020s, she was one of the organisers of the protests against judiciary reforms and the women's strike protests in the Tricity, and one of the leaders of the All-Poland Women's Strike movement. Gdynia is a city in northern Poland and a seaport on the Baltic Sea coast. With an estimated population of 257,000, it is the List of cities in Poland, 12th-largest city in Poland and the second-largest in the Pomeranian Voivodeship after Gdańsk. 2024 Polish Local Elections
Local elections were held in Poland on 7 April 2024 to elect members for all 16 regional assemblies (''sejmik wojewódzki''), 314 county (''powiat'') councils, and 2477 municipal (''gmina'') councils, heads (''wójt'') of municipalities and mayors of cities, as well as 18 district councils of Warsaw. Wojciech Bogusław Szczurek (born 1 December 1963) is a Polish politician who served as the mayor of Gdynia from 1998 to 2024. He was also the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland – Lech Kaczyński for local government. Biography Wojciech Szczurek was born in Gdynia, Poland. He finished the Primary School no. 35 and later the Adam Mickiewicz Secondary School in Gdynia. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdansk, where he also received his doctoral degree. In years 1989–1994 he worked as an assessor and later as a judge at the District Court in Gdynia. He used to adjudicate in the Civil Department. In 1989 he co-founded the Civic Committee in Gdynia. The All-Poland Women's Strike or Polish Women's Strike (, OSK) is a women's rights social movement in Poland, established in September 2016. It was set up in protest against the rejection by the Sejm of the Parliament of Poland, Polish Parliament of the bill "Save Women", which was considered by the Sejm in parallel to the project "Stop Abortion". The movement was responsible for the organization of Black Monday, a protest action, involving various forms of strike, that took place simultaneously in 147 Polish cities, towns and villages.
