Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Mikhailov (April 26, 1888 – September 29, 1983) was a Russian astronomer who was a member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. He worked at Pulkovo Observatory from 1947 to 1982. He was its director until 1964 and is credited with leading its post-war revival after the fall of Leningrad. Alexander Ivanovich Mikhailov (; 6 December 1905, Zemetchino – 6 February 1988, Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian engineer and information scientist. He was one of the most influential thinkers related to the field of information science in the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc. Biography Mikhailov graduated in 1931 in mechanical engineering from the Mendeleev Institute and had a successful career in plane and aircraft engineering in the 1930s and 1940s. At the beginning of the 1950s, he participated in the creation and development of VINITI, an institute devoted to the study and practice of Scientific Information in Russia. The institute opened in 1952, and Mikhailov became director from October 1956 until his death. Aleksandr Nikolayevich Mikhailov (; 15 September 1951 – 4 December 2020) was a Russian politician, who served as governor of Kursk Oblast, a member of the State Duma, and a senator on the Federation Council. Biography Mikhailov was born in the village of Kosorzha in the Kursk Oblast on 15 September 1951. He studied mechanical engineering, graduating from Kharkov Institute of Railway Transport Engineers (now the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport) in the year 1974. As a student, he was a member of the Komsomol. In 1985, he received a Candidate of Science— equivalent to a DPhil or PhD in the Anglosphere, in history from the Rostov Higher Party School. From the late 1970s until the dissolution of the USSR, Mikhailov held various local offices in the Communist Party.
