"Alec Eiffel" is a song by the American alternative rock band Pixies, from their 1991 album ''Trompe le Monde''. The song was written and sung by frontman Black Francis, produced by Gil Norton and recorded during the album's recording sessions. Pixies (band)
Pixies is an American alternative rock band formed in 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts. Until 2013, the band consisted of Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals) and David Lovering (drums). They disbanded acrimoniously in 1993 but reunited in 2004. After Deal left in 2013, Pixies hired Kim Shattuck as a touring bassist; she was replaced that year by Paz Lenchantin, who became a permanent member in 2016. Pixies is associated with the 1990s alternative rock boom, and draws on elements including punk rock and surf rock. Their music is known for dynamic "loud-quiet-loud" shifts and song structures. Cameron Langdon Brown (born December 21, 1945) is an American jazz double bassist known for his association with the Don Pullen/ George Adams Quartet. Biography Cameron started studying music at age 10, first on piano, later on clarinet. But, drawn to the bass, he found himself playing a tin bass in a student dance band. As an exchange student in Europe, he worked with George Russell's Sextet and Big Band for one year and played with Don Cherry, Aldo Romano, Booker Ervin, and Donald Byrd. In 1966 he returned to graduate at Columbia College, Columbia University (1969, B.A. in Sociology). In 1974, Brown met Sheila Jordan, gigged with free jazz pioneers Roswell Rudd and Beaver Harris, joined Archie Shepp's quintet in 1975, and recorded with Harris' and The 360 Degree Music Experience around that time. Named after the Kansas town Eudora, the CD contains a number of cover songs which had been recorded for singles or compilations, by artists such as David Bowie, The Pixies, The Cure, and The Replacements. The song " Central Standard Time" originally appeared on a split 7-inch with The Anniversary, and the song " Burned Bridges" is a cover of the song "Harvest of Maturity" by the Metalcore band Coalesce, and the song originally appeared on a split 7-inch between the two groups, each band choosing one of the other bands' songs and re-working it. The Get Up Kids are an American rock band from Olathe, Kansas. Formed in 1995, the band was a major player in the mid-1990s Midwest emo scene, otherwise known as the " second wave" of emo music. Their second album '' Something to Write Home About'' remains their most widely acclaimed album, and is considered to be one of the quintessential albums of the second-wave emo movement.
