Ale Zone
Ale or Alle is an administrative zone in South Ethiopia Regional State. In 2011 Ale was included in the Segen Area People's Zone. Ale demanded their own district for decades and secured woreda status in 2011. Before 2011, the Ale were a minority in the then Konso and Dirashe Special Woredas. Ale got Zonal status upon inauguration day of South Ethiopia Regional State in August 2023. The zone is named for the Ale people, whose homeland is in the zone. The exact number of zones is unclear, as the names and number of zones given in documents by Ethiopia's Central Statistical Agency differ between 2005 and 2007. Gamo Zone
Gamo Zone is a Zone in the South Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. Gamo is bordered on the south by the Dirashe Zone, on the southwest by South Omo Zone, on the west by Gofa Zone, on the north by Wolayita, on the northeast by the Lake Abaya which separates it from the Oromia Region, and on the southeast by the Amaro Zone. The administrative center of Gamo is Arba Minch. Gamo has 431 kilometers of all-weather roads and 1000 kilometers of dry-weather roads, for an average road density of 45 kilometers per 1000 square kilometers. The highest point in this Zone is Guge (4,207 meters above sea level). The Lake Chamo is located at the southeastern part of Gamo just south of Lake Abaya. Dirashe Zone
Gardula Zone is one of the zones in the South Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. In 2011, the Segen Area Peoples Zone was established, which includes Dirashe woreda and the 3 former special woredas surrounding it. It is named for the Dirashe people, whose homelands lie in the eastern part of this woreda. Dirashe got zonal status when the South Ethiopia Regional State formed in August 2023. South Omo Zone
South Omo Zone is a zone in the Ethiopian South Ethiopia Regional State. South Omo is bordered to the south by Kenya, to the west by West Omo Zone, to the northwest by Keffa Zone, to the north by Ari Zone and Gofa Zone, to the northeast by Gardula, Ale Zone and Konso and to the east by the Oromia Region. Mago National Park and Tama Wildlife Reserve are located at the eastern bank of Omo river.
