Aldo Brizzi
Aldo Brizzi is an Italian composer and conductor. Biography He was born in Alessandria, Italy, in 1960. Studies at the Milan Conservatory, conducting workshops with Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, and Sergiu Celibidache. Graduated at DAMS Bologna. He has also worked with Giacinto Scelsi who has influenced his artistic horizon. He has composed music for solo, ensembles and orchestras, including the Strings of the Berlin Philharmonic, European Union Youth Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, Arditti String Quartet. His awards include the Venezia Opera Prima del Teatro La Fenice (1981), European Year of Music ( Biennale di Venezia, Festival d'Automne in Paris, WDR di Cologne/Köln, 1985), Concorso nazionale Franco Evangelisti in Rome/Roma (1986), and the Young Composers' Forum in Cologne/Köln (1989). Lucca
Lucca ( , ) is a city and ''comune'' in Tuscany, Central Italy, on the Serchio River, in a fertile plain near the Ligurian Sea. The city has a population of about 89,000, while its province has a population of 383,957. ''Treemonisha'' (1911) is an opera by American ragtime composer Scott Joplin. It is sometimes referred to as a "ragtime opera", though Joplin did not refer to it as such and it encompasses a wide range of musical styles. The music of ''Treemonisha'' includes an overture and prelude, along with various recitatives, choruses, small ensemble pieces, a ballet, and a few arias. Southern (1997), p. 537. The opera was largely unknown before its first complete performance in 1972. Joplin was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize for music in 1976 for ''Treemonisha''. The performance was called a "semimiracle" by music historian Gilbert Chase, who said ''Treemonisha'' "bestowed its creative vitality and moral message upon many thousands of delighted listeners and viewers" when it was recreated. The Théâtre National de Chaillot (English: Chaillot National Theatre) is a theatre located in the Palais de Chaillot at 1, place du Trocadéro, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Alfredo Arias (theatre Producer)
Alfredo Arias (born 4 March 1944) is a theatre producer, actor and playwright. Born in a Buenos Aires suburb, he has subsequently acquired French nationality and, since 1969 or 1970, been based in Paris. Life Early years Arias was born in Lanús, an industrial city contiguous with Buenos Aires. His father was a factory worker: output included espadrilles and tarpaulins. His relationship with his mother was troubled and Arias joined the Péronist youth organisation. His parents planned that he should become a lawyer, although Arias himself developed an early determination to work in the arts. Aged 11 he was enrolled in a military school after which he was required to pass a legal qualification. He participated in the theatrical courses provided by the Alliance Française, but was quickly discouraged by its outdated and classical approach. Maria Teresa de Almeida Salgueiro OIH () is a Portuguese singer. She is best known as the lead singer of Madredeus from 1987 until 2007. She also appeared in Wim Wenders' film '' Lisbon Story.'' Career Salgueiro joined Madredeus after other members noticed her singing at a bar in Lisbon. She left Madredeus in November 2007 to focus on solo work. In 2007, Salgueiro performed a concert of Neapolitan music at the Teatro di San Carlo with the Solis String Quartet. In the same year, she released ''Você e Eu'' with Septeto de João Cristal; in this album, Salgueiro covers songs from well-known Brazilian artists such as Chico Buarque and Vinicius de Moraes.
