Aldein
Aldein (; it, Aldino ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about south of the city of Bolzano. Aldein borders the following municipalities: Bronzolo, Montan, Deutschnofen, Auer, Truden and Ville di Fiemme. It contains the ''frazione'' (subdivision) Radein (Redagno). History A settlement called ''Aldinum'' is mentioned for the first time in 1177, in 1185 the name appears as ''Alden''. Coat-of-arms The coat of arms is divided party per fess; on the top are two quarter-circle, azure on argent background that represents the ''Weisshorn''. The lower part shows the argent cross of Saint Andrew shortened that represent the four original hamlets on a gules background as the mountain of porphyrite. The arms were adopted in 1969. It is one of only five mainly Italian speaking municipalities in South Tyrol. Montan
Montan (; it, Montagna ) is a municipality with 1,701 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2018) in the South of South Tyrol in northern Italy, about south of Bolzano. The name Montan comes from the Latin ''mons'' ("mountain"). Geography The municipality of Montan, totalling , extends on the orographically left, i.e. eastern flank of the South Tyrolean Lowlands (Unterland), as the section of the Adige valley between Bolzano and the Salorno chasm is called. The main settlement areas are located on a wide hillside terrace, on which sits the main town of Montan (); somewhat south of it lie the two districts Pinzon () and Glen (). Deutschnofen
Deutschnofen (; it, Nova Ponente ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about southeast of the city of Bolzano. Deutschnofen borders the following municipalities: Aldein, Bolzano, Bronzolo, Karneid, Laives, Welschnofen, and municipalities of Predazzo, Tesero and Varena in Trentino. Argent
In heraldry, argent () is the tincture of silver, and belongs to the class of light tinctures called "metals". It is very frequently depicted as white and usually considered interchangeable with it. In engravings and line drawings, regions to be tinctured ''argent'' are either left blank, or indicated with the abbreviation ''ar''. Ladin Language
Ladin (, also ; autonym: , it, ladino; german: Ladinisch) is a Romance language of the Rhaeto-Romance subgroup, mainly spoken in the Dolomite Mountains in Northern Italy in the provinces of South Tyrol, Trentino, and Belluno, by the Ladin people. Porphyry (geology)
Porphyry ( ) is a textural term for an igneous rock consisting of coarse-grained crystals such as feldspar or quartz dispersed in a fine-grained silicate-rich, generally aphanitic matrix or groundmass.
