Aldavilla is a rural locality in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, roughly 10 kilometres west of the town of Kempsey. The locality is bordered on three sides by the Macleay River. Fattorini Creek, a tributary of the Macleay, forms its northern boundary. Kempsey is a town in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia and is the council seat for Kempsey Shire. It is located roughly 16.5 kilometres inland from the coast of the Pacific Ocean, on the Macleay Valley Way near where the Pacific Highway (Australia), Pacific Highway and the North Coast railway line, New South Wales, North Coast railway line cross the Macleay River. Kempsey Shire is a local government area in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. The shire services an area of and is located on the Pacific Highway and the North Coast railway line. Kempsey Shire was formed on 1 October 1975 by the amalgamation of the former Kempsey Municipality and the former Macleay Shire. At the , Kempsey Shire had a high proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people residing within its boundaries; being 11.1 per cent of the resident population, more than four times the national and state averages of 2.5 per cent. The shire also contains a coastal strip that was identified in 2007, and confirmed in 2015, as one of the most socially disadvantaged areas in Australia. Oxley is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. While the Mid North Coast has throughout history been conservative, Oxley is seen as particularly conservative even by Mid North Coast standards. As a single-member seat, Oxley has only ever been held by a conservative party. It is a very safe Nationals seat. The Macleay River is a river that spans the Northern Tablelands and Mid North Coast districts of New South Wales, Australia. Kempsey Airport is a small airport located in Aldavilla west of Kempsey, New South Wales, Australia. The airport is operated by Kempsey Shire Council and is mainly used for general aviation activities, including flight training, skydiving and emergency services uses. There are currently no scheduled passenger services to Kempsey. History The Department of Defence began investigating sites for an aircraft landing ground in the Macleay area in 1929. The aerodrome at Aldavilla formally opened on 4 December 1937, with the occasion marked by a large air show attended by an estimated 2000 people.
