Albufeira Railway Station
The Albufeira-Ferreiras Station is the railway station for the city of , Algarve, in Portugal. Situated in the civil parish of Ferreiras, in the north of the municipality of Albufeira. The station opened on 1 July 1889. Line The station is on the Linha do Algarve which runs east to west across the Algarve from Lagos in the west to Vila Real de Santo António in the east, on the border with Spain. Part of the line, between Tunes and Faro through Albufeira, is electrified, using overhead catenary. The line east of Faro to Vila Real de Santo António, is not electrified, nor is the western section between Tunes and Lagos. A scheme to electrify the whole line was due to have been completed in 2020, but so far little work has taken place. Ferreiras
Ferreiras is a civil parish in the southern Portuguese municipality of Albufeira. The population in 2011 was 6,406 in an area of 20.13 km². History From the discovery of various archeological vestiges within the territory, including the Cerros Altos region, there is a consensus that human settlement in the area occurred in the 2nd century A.D. (including the remains of forge/foundry and inscription). Other evidence of human occupation in the territory occurred in Ataboeira, where coins and fragments of pots, dated to the Roman occupation were discovered. Complementary evidence includes the visible Moorish influence on local architecture, such as the "typical" chimneys, the white-painted homes and Açoteias terraces. Albufeira () is a city and seat of its own municipality in the district of Faro, in the southernmost Portuguese region of Algarve. The municipality population in 2021 was 44,158, in an area of . Linha do Algarve is a railway line in the region of Algarve, in southern Portugal, which connects the stations of Lagos to the west and Vila Real de Santo António to the east of the Portuguese region. Vila Real De Santo António
Vila Real de Santo António (, often run together as ) is a city, civil parish, and municipality in the Algarve, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 19,156, in an area of 61.25 km2. It is one of the few municipalities in Portugal without territorial continuity: its territory comprises two parts, with the municipal seat located in the eastern part. Vila Real de Santo António was founded after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, and largely expanded in 1774 using the same architectural and construction techniques employed in the reconstruction of Lisbon after the disaster.
