Albrecht Hornbach
Albrecht Hornbach (born 24 October 1954, in Landau) is a German businessman, CEO of the German DIY store Hornbach since 1998, and president of the group's holding since 2001. Biography Hornbach obtained a degree in civil engineering from the university of Karlsruhe in 1980. After graduation, he worked in a structural engineering company, and as a director in a real estate development company. Hornbach joined the family company, Hornbach, in 1991, in charge of opening new stores. In 1998, he became CEO of Hornbach-Baumarkt-AG, and in November 2001, he became president of the holding that controls the Hornbach group, Hornbach Holding AG. Up until October 2001, Hornbach was the chairman of the management board at Hornbach-Baumarkt-AG. From April 2002 to March 2009, he was member of the supervisory board of Hornbach-Baumarkt-AG. Landau (), officially Landau in der Pfalz (, ), is an autonomous (''kreisfrei'') town surrounded by the Südliche Weinstraße ("Southern Wine Route") district of southern Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Hornbach Baumarkt AG () is a German Do it yourself, DIY-store chain offering home improvement and do-it-yourself goods. Hornbach is one of the leading DIY-store chains in Germany. In the 2020/2021 financial year (March 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021), the ''Hornbach Baumarkt Group'' generated sales of Euro 5.1 billion. The stores are owned and operated by Hornbach Baumarkt AG. The ''Hornbach Baumarkt Group'' currently operates a total of 171 DIY megastores with garden centers and online stores in nine European countries, of which 96 stores are located in Germany (plus: Austria, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland and Slovakia), as well as two specialist stores for hard flooring (Bodenhaus) in Germany. Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (, DIHK) is a German 'chamber,' similar to an English guild but is required under German law and provides political influence of a trade union. This organization was formerly known as the ''Deutscher Industrie- und Handelstag'' or ''DIHT''. Following a series of legal proceedings in several instances due to inadmissible communications by the DIHK because it had exceeded the limits of its authority, these limits of authority were specified in the amendment to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Act. As of 1 January 2023, the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce e. V. was transformed into the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) on January 1, 2023. Pfalz (region)
The Palatinate (; ; Palatine German: ''Palz''), or the Rhenish Palatinate (''Rheinpfalz''), is a historical region of Germany.
