Albin Ridefeldt
Albin Ridefelt (born 23 November 1991) is a Swedish orienteering competitor who runs for the club OK Linné. He represented Sweden at the 2021 World Orienteering Championships in the Czech Republic, where he placed 12th in the middle distance. He won a gold medal in the men's relay with the Swedish team, along with William Lind and Gustav Bergman. At the 2022 European Orienteering Championships he won a gold medal in the men's middle distance. Orienteering
Orienteering is a group of sports that require navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain whilst moving at speed. Participants are given a topographical map, usually a specially prepared orienteering map, which they use to find control points. Originally a training exercise in land navigation for military officers, orienteering has developed many variations. Among these, the oldest and the most popular is foot orienteering. For the purposes of this article, foot orienteering serves as a point of departure for discussion of all other variations, but almost any sport that involves racing against a clock and requires navigation with a map is a type of orienteering. World Orienteering Championships
The World Orienteering Championships (or WOC for short) is an annual orienteering event organized by the International Orienteering Federation. The first World Championships was held in Fiskars, Finland in 1966. They were held biennially up to 2003 (with the exception of 1978 and 1979). Since 2003, competitions have been held annually. Participating nations have to be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). Originally, there were only two competitions: an individual race and a relay. In 1991, a short distance race (roughly 20–25 minutes) was added and a sprint race was added in 2001. The middle distance (roughly 30–35 minutes) replaced the short distance in 2003. 2023 World Orienteering Championships

European Orienteering Championships
The European Orienteering Championships were first held in 1962. They have been held biennially since 2000. From 2020, the European Orienteering Championships will be held annually, with sprint events and forest events in alternate years. Format The competition format has changed several times. From the beginning in 1962, the World Championships consisted of only two competitions: an individual race and an unofficial relay. 2022 European Championships
The 2022 European Championships were the second edition of the European Championships. It was a multi-sport event which took place in Munich, Germany from 11 to 21 August 2022. The tournament began three days after the conclusion of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Athletics, Cycling, Triathlon, Women's Artistic Gymnastics, Men's Artistic Gymnastics and Rowing returned after appearing in the inaugural Championships in 2018. New to this edition of the Championships were Beach Volleyball, Canoe Sprint, and, for the first time, a full slate of para-sport events, Sport Climbing and Table Tennis. Unlike the 2018 European Championships, Swimming, Diving, Artistic swimming and Open water swimming were not part of the program of the event, as the 2022 European Aquatics Championships were held at the same time but in Rome, Italy. The Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) are an annual orienteering competition. They were first held in 1990. Entry is open to national teams aged 20 and below as of 31 December in the year of competition. Representative countries must be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). William Lind (born 12 February 1985) is a Swedish orienteering competitor. Gustav Bergman (born 4 December 1990) is a Swedish orienteering competitor. He won a bronze medal in the middle distance at the 2013 World Orienteering Championships. Gustav Bergman
Gustav C. Bergman (1872–1962) was the first elected mayor of Beverly, Alberta after Beverly was incorporated as a town in 1914. Biography Carl Gustaf Bergman was born to Swedish American parents in Paxton, Illinois. His mother was killed in an accident with a train when Bergman was only seven years old. Because his father was unable to care for him, he was forced to work. He later attended Drake University. He moved to Canada in the early 1900s, settling first near Erskine, Alberta, before moving to the Beverly area in 1912. He bought 36 lots in Beverly's Beacon Heights subdivision. When Beverly incorporated as a town in 1914, he ran for mayor, was elected and served a single term. During his term, Beverly's police force and fire brigade were established. In 1917, he moved back to Erskine and took up farming. Bergman returned to Edmonton briefly in 1962 to attend the ceremonies marking Beverly's amalgamation with the City of Edmonton. Emil Svensk (born 12 July 1993) is a Swedish orienteering competitor. He was born in Borlänge. He won a gold medal in the middle distance at the 2013 Junior World Orienteering Championships.
