Albesa
Albesa is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Noguera, in the province of Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. In 1003 it was the seat of the battle of Albesa. The economy is mostly based on agriculture (fruit, potato, tomato), taking advantage of the presence of an acequia. Battle Of Albesa
According to Catalan historian Ramon d'Abadal i de Vinyals, the battle was the:. . . product of a Catalan offensive in which the bishop Berengar of Elna met his death. . . in the middle of a preventative war targetting the latent threat of ‘Abd al-Malik, the Córdoban leader, son of Almanzor. . .
