Alberto David
Alberto David (born 26 March 1970) is a Luxembourgish-Italian chess grandmaster. He is a three-time Italian Chess Champion. Chess career David was born in Milan in 1970, and in 1974 moved with his parents to Luxembourg, where he learned to play chess a year later. He attained some success at the youth level but it was not until he finished his philosophy studies in London in 1992 that his chess career began. He earned his grandmaster title in 1998, becoming Luxembourg's first grandmaster. He competed for Luxembourg at the Chess Olympiads of 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2006, playing on the each time. In 2002 he won the individual silver medal with a score of 84.6% (+10–1=2). In 2012 he obtained Italian citizenship and transferred to the Italian Chess Federation in July of the same year. EU Individual Open Chess Championship
The EU Individual Open Championship was first contested in Cork, Ireland in 2005, under the auspices of organising body, the European Chess Union (ECU). The event is open to members of chess federations within the European Union. Exceptionally, at the discretion of the organisers, guest players have also been allowed to compete; for example, when the host nation has non-EU neighbours. The fifth championship, held in Arvier in 2010, was its last edition. Background The tournament has been held annually between 2005 and 2008, and again in 2010, sometimes in conjunction with the celebrations of cities awarded European Capital of Culture status. Financial backing has not been consistently high, but in the case of Liverpool 2008, the prize fund totalled £30,000, which was large enough to attract many of the EU's strongest players. Alexandra Kosteniuk
Alexandra Konstantinovna Kosteniuk (; born 23 April 1984) is a Russian and Swiss chess grandmaster who was the Women's World Chess Champion from 2008 to 2010 and Women's World Rapid Chess Champion in 2021. She was European women's champion in 2004 and a two-time Russian Women's Chess Champion (in 2005 and 2016). Kosteniuk won the team gold medal playing for Russia at the Women's Chess Olympiads of 2010, 2012 and 2014; the Women's World Team Chess Championship of 2017; and the Women's European Team Chess Championships of 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2017; and the Women's Chess World Cup 2021. Chess is a board game for two players. It is an abstract strategy game that involves no hidden information and no elements of chance. Sabino Brunello
Sabino Brunello (born 27 June 1989) is an Italian chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2010. Chess career Sabino Brunello started to play chess at the age of 8. In 2002, in Bratto, he became the Italian champion in the age category Under 18. In 2007 in Martina Franca he won silver medal in the Italian Chess Championship. In 2010 in Arvier he took the silver medal in the European Union Championship. In 2014, in Durban, Brunello shared first place with Sahaj Grover in the Open Grandmasters Tournament. The Riga Technical University Open (also RTU Open) is an international "open" chess festival annually held in Riga, Latvia in August. It is the largest classical chess tournament in the Baltic states. Abstract The Riga Technical University Open has been held since 2011, with the exception of the year 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequently the 10th jubilee edition followed in summer 2021.
