Alberto Antonio Peña Jr.
Alberto Antonio Peña Jr. (December 15, 1917 – July 3, 2006) was an American civil rights activist. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Peña sought to improve the treatment of Mexican-Americans in his local community. With his schooling in law, Peña fought several school districts on their segregation policies which won him popularity within civil rights circles. He served four terms as Bexar County Commissioner from 1956 to 1972. He was well known not only in the Mexican American community but also the African-American community and often aided the NAACP in their goals as well. Carlos Cadena
Carlos C. Cadena (1917–2001) was an American lawyer, civil rights activist and judge based in San Antonio, Texas. Carlos Cristian Cadena, who was the son of Mexican immigrants, was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1917 and attended Catholic school. He earned his LL.B. degree from the University of Texas Law School in 1940, serving as editor of the ''Texas Law Review'' and graduating summa cum laude. Cadena's long legal career was interrupted only by a term as a radio operator in the US Army Air Forces during World War II. In his early years he worked as assistant city attorney (and later city attorney) for San Antonio, was partner in a law firm, and also taught constitutional law at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. Lytle, Texas
Lytle is a city in Atascosa, Bexar, and Medina counties in Texas, United States. The population was 2,914 at the 2020 census. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Lytle grew out of 321 acres located around the head of Atascosa Creek, patented to Henry Volkner in 1856. Volkner was the assignee of Mahan Matter, and the patent was signed by Elisha M. Pease, Governor of Texas. In 1870, Volkner sold the 321 acres for $175 to Fitch S. Adams. Lytle's first school was built on Adams' property with a verbal agreement that as long as the school building was there, the land it stood would belong to the school. In 1881, officials from the International–Great Northern Railroad made an agreement with B. G. Andrews in which he was to give land for a new station ("Andrews Station").
