Alberta Open
The Alberta Open is a golf tournament that is held in Alberta, Canada. It was an important event on the Canadian Tour and its predecessors until 1999 when it endured a brief hiatus after losing its main sponsors. It returned as an event on the provincial circuit in 2002. Although tournament organisers, Alberta Golf, state that the Alberta Open was first played in 1935, the origins of the tournament can be traced back further, with an open championship being introduced to the Alberta Golf Association provincial tournament week in around 1912. Originally a one-day 36-hole event played during the provincial tournament week alongside the amateur championship, the Alberta Open became a separate 72-hole tournament in 1937. In response to not attracting as many big-name players as hoped, in 1953 prize money was substantially reduced and the tournament was cut to 54-holes. Alberta is a Provinces and territories of Canada, province in Canada. It is a part of Western Canada and is one of the three Canadian Prairies, prairie provinces. Randal W. Hill (born September 26, 1967) is a Texas entrepreneur and business leader. Hill gained his reputation as entrepreneur after spearheading the use of semi trailers that had been converted to transport, as well as dry, agricultural products. Kirk Alan Triplett (born March 29, 1962) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, and PGA Tour Champions. Rick Todd (born October 3, 1962) is a Canadian professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, Asian Tour, Japan Golf Tour and the Canadian Tour. Early life and amateur career Todd was born in Toronto, Ontario. He played college golf at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He was second team All-American in 1986, third team in 1985 and honorable mention in 1984 and made the All- WAC first team four years in a row. Donald Arthur Fardon (born 19 August 1940) is an English pop singer. Fardon is best known for his cover of the song "Indian Reservation" (1968), a UK number 3 hit and global million selling disc. He also wrote the football anthem " Belfast Boy" about George Best. Career Prior to becoming a singer, Fardon worked as a draughtsman for Alfred Herberts Ltd in Coventry. Before his solo success, Fardon was a singer with The Sorrows. His biggest success was his cover version of "Indian Reservation" by John D. James Edgar Rutledge (born August 26, 1959) is a Canadian professional golfer. He has played on the Canadian Tour, Asia Golf Circuit, Nationwide Tour, PGA Tour, and Champions Tour. Early life Rutledge was born in Victoria, British Columbia. He won the Canadian Juvenile Championship in 1975 at the Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria and the Canadian Junior Championship in 1977.
