Albert Sorensen
Albert "Al" Sorensen (born February 19, 1932) served as a Democratic Iowa State Senator from 1991 to 1997. He joined the Senate after winning a special election in 1991, his predecessor, Jack Nystrom (R- Boone), having resigned to serve on the Iowa Liquor Commission. He won re-election in 1992, but lost in 1996 to Republican Jerry Behn. During his second term in the Senate, Sorensen served on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Agriculture committee; the Natural Resources, Environment and Energy committee; the Small Business, Economic Development & Tourism committee; the State Government committee; and the Local Government committee, where he was the chair. Sorensen was elected to the Boone County Board of Supervisors in 2000 and re-elected in 2004. Norwalk, Iowa
Norwalk is a city in Warren County, with some small portions extending into Polk County, in the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 12,799 at the time of the 2020 census. The city is part of the Des Moines metropolitan area and is located just south of the Des Moines International Airport. History Early history The first settlers came to Norwalk area about 1846. One of them, Samuel Crow, settled near the North River. The first construction on the site that is now Norwalk began with a log cabin built by Samuel Snyder. The following year more families settled in the little town known as Pyra. A post office was established in the town on June 18, 1856. George W. Swan laid out the town and erected a hotel. Leonard Boswell
Leonard Leroy Boswell (January 10, 1934 – August 17, 2018) was an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for from 1997 to 2013, a district based in Des Moines. A member of the Democratic Party, he was defeated for reelection in 2012 by 4th district incumbent Tom Latham, who decided to run against him after redistricting. Boswell left Congress in January 2013. Early life, education and career Boswell was born in Harrison County, Missouri, the son of Margaret and Melvin Boswell. He was raised on a farm and educated at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Boswell spent twenty years in the United States Army. He was first drafted in the Army in 1956 as a private.
