Albert Lammens
Albert Lammens (17 June 1890 – 7 October 1933) was a Belgian tennis player who represented Belgium in the Davis Cup and the Olympic Games. In 1919 Lammens won the singles title at the Belgian Championships and with Jean Washer won the doubles title in 1920 and 1921. He took part in the 1920 Summer Olympics, organized in his native county, and in the 1924 Summer Olympics. In the 1920 singles event he won the first round against Hans Syz, followed by a victory over Carl-Eric von Braun in the second round but in the third round Ichiya Kumagae proved too strong. In the 1920 doubles event Lammens partnered with Jean Washer. They defeated Sune Malström and Carl-Eric von Braun in the first round but lost in the second round in straight sets to the Japanese pair Ichiya Kumagae and Seiichiro Kashio. Tennis At The 1920 Summer Olympics – Men's Singles
The men's singles was a tennis event held as part of the tennis at the 1920 Summer Olympics programme. It was the sixth appearance of the event. A total of 44 players from 15 nations entered in the event; 41 players from 14 nations competed. The event was held from 16 to 23 August 1920 at the Beerschot Tennis Club. Nations were limited to four players each. The event was won by Louis Raymond of South Africa, the nation's second consecutive in the event (second-most all-time behind Great Britain's three). South Africa had nearly had both finalists again, as it had in 1912, but defending champion Charles Winslow fell to Japan's Ichiya Kumagae in the semifinal; Winslow took bronze by walkover against Noel Turnbull of Great Britain. Jean Borotra
Jean Laurent Robert Borotra (, ; 13 August 1898 – 17 July 1994) was a French tennis champion. He was one of the " Four Musketeers" from his country who dominated tennis in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Borotra was imprisoned in Itter Castle during the latter years of World War II and subsequently fought in the Battle for Castle Itter. Career Borotra was born in Domaine du Pouy, Biarritz, Aquitaine, the oldest of four children. Known as "the Bounding Basque", he won four Grand Slam singles titles in the French, Australian, and All England championships. The 1924 French Championship does not count towards his grand slam total as the French was only open to French nationals and members of French clubs. René Lacoste
Jean René Lacoste was a French tennis player and businessman. He was nicknamed "the Crocodile" because of how he dealt with his opponents; he is also known worldwide as the creator of the Lacoste tennis shirt, which he introduced in 1929, and eventually founded the brand and its logo in 1933. Lacoste was one of The Four Musketeers with Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, and Henri Cochet, French tennis stars who dominated the game in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He won seven Grand Slam singles titles at the French, American, and British championships and was an eminent baseline player and tactician of the pre-war period. Maxime Omer Mathieu Decugis or Décugis (; 24 September 1882 – 6 September 1978) was a tennis player from France who held the French Championships record of winning the tournament eight times (a French club members only tournament before 1925), a feat that was surpassed by Rafael Nadal in 2014. Suzanne Rachel Flore Lenglen (; 24 May 1899 – 4 July 1938) was a French tennis player. She was the inaugural world No. 1 from 1921 to 1926, winning eight Grand Slam titles in singles and twenty-one in total.
