Albert I. Prettyman
Albert I. Prettyman (died 1963) was a coach and athletic administrator at Hamilton College (New York), Hamilton College. During his coaching career he was head coach of many sports including basketball, track and field and American football, football, but the majority of for his coaching work was in ice hockey. When he died the American Hockey Coaches Association called him "the father of college hockey." He was also director/coach of the 1936 USA Winter Olympics hockey team, winning the bronze medal. Prettyman was a member of two Olympic Committees and the founder, and lasting member of, the NCAA Hockey Rules Committee. Early life Prettyman was born in Virginia. He attended International Young Men's Christian Association Training School (now known as Springfield College) in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he graduated in 1906. Kraft Hockeyville
''Kraft Hockeyville'' is an annual competition sponsored by Kraft Heinz, the National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association in which communities compete to demonstrate their commitment to the sport of ice hockey. The winning community gets a cash prize dedicated to upgrading their local home arena, as well as the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game. Runners-up also get smaller cash prizes to upgrade their ice rinks. The contest is normally held in the winter and spring during the latter half of the NHL regular season, with the pre-season game usually held in September before the following regular season. If the winning arena is not adequately equipped to host the pre-season game, it is then played at an alternative site nearby. The idea and theme was developed by Capital C, a Canadian Advertising Agency that was founded by Tony Chapman. Utica Comets
The Utica Comets are a professional ice hockey team based in Utica, New York, with home games at the Adirondack Bank Center. They are members of the North Division in the Eastern Conference of the American Hockey League (AHL) and affiliated with the National Hockey League's (NHL) New Jersey Devils. The team was established when the Vancouver Canucks relocated their AHL franchise to Utica for the 2013–14 season and remained until the 2020–21 season. The Devils then agreed to lease their franchise to the Comets after the Canucks moved their AHL franchise to Abbotsford. The Comets are the second AHL team to call Utica home; another New Jersey Devils affiliated team, the Utica Devils played in the city from 1987 until 1993. American Hockey Coaches Association
The American Hockey Coaches Association was formed in 1947 in Boston. The founding members coached college ice hockey but membership has grown to include coaches at every level of the sport from youth hockey to professional ice hockey, although the organization maintains a focus on the collegiate game. Aside from its collaborative and community functions, the association also names several award winners each year, most significantly the college ice hockey All-Americans in both divisions and both genders.
