Albert Holt
Albert Holt (born 1936), usually referred to as Uncle Albert Holt, is an Aboriginal elder of the Bidjara people. Early life Holt was born in 1936 on the Barambah Mission Reserve (now known as Cherbourg) after his family was forcibly removed from their home country near Springsure. His father was from the Bidjara nation while his mother was from the Yiman and Wakaman nations. Career Throughout his life, Holt has worked as an advocate for community justice, as well as for better education and health services for Australian First Nations people. He has contributed to many advisory committees, parliamentary reviews, ministerial policy forums and educational working groups. For two decades, Holt advocated for schools in Queensland to be more inclusive and lobbied them to incorporate Aboriginal history into their curriculum, while also encouraging students to maximise the educational opportunities which are available to them. 2018 Commonwealth Games
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, were an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that was held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. Queen's Baton Relay
The King's Baton Relay is a relay around the world held prior to the beginning of the Commonwealth Games. The baton carries a message from the Head of the Commonwealth, currently King Charles III. The relay traditionally begins at Buckingham Palace in London, where the King entrusts the baton to the first relay runner. At the opening ceremony of the Games, the final relay runner hands the torch back to the King or his representative, who reads the message aloud to officially open the Games. The King's Baton Relay is similar to the Olympic Torch Relay. Started as the Queen's Baton Relay for the 1958 Games, the relay has been included in every games ever since. Annastacia Palaszczuk ( , born 25 July 1969) is an Australian politician who served as the 39th premier of Queensland from 2015 to 2023. She held office as the leader of the Queensland branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) from 2012 until her resignation, and was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland (MLA) for the division of Inala from 2006 to 2023. Henry Palaszczuk
Heinrich Palaszczuk (, Polish: ; born 12 January 1947) is a former Labor member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, and minister of the Beattie Government of Queensland. He was elected as the member for Archerfield in 1984, and held that seat until his election as the member for Inala in 1992.
